Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 391

By the time Belle pulled up outside the restaurant, everyone else from the office—including the higher-ups—had already gone inside. Only a few cars were left scattered in the lot.

Belle found a space, parked, and immediately linked arms with Amelia, practically dragging her toward the entrance.

Behind them, a white Bentley slid smoothly into a nearby spot.

Inside sat Clive, Cameron, and Kristen.

Cameron, riding up front, watched Amelia’s bright silhouette disappear into the restaurant. His tone was pure ice. “Unbelievable. She gets divorced this morning, grabs half of Clive’s money, and by dinner she’s all dressed up, celebrating at the fanciest place in town.”

Kristen glanced over at Clive, pretending to be surprised. “Wasn’t Amelia always super thrifty? I honestly thought she’d never set foot in a place like this.”

Clive just stared at Amelia’s fading figure, no telling what he was thinking. He didn’t say a word.

Cameron stepped out and gave a short, bitter laugh. “Kristen, you’re too innocent. If Amelia wasn’t materialistic, why would she hire Andrew—the most ruthless lawyer she could find—to wring every cent out of Clive?”

He jammed his hand in his pocket, disgust written all over his face. “She doesn’t even have the money in her account yet, and she’s already celebrating. Classic—someone who’s never had much suddenly comes into cash and can’t wait to show off. Honestly, Amelia’s probably the only one here who’s actually excited about the menu.”

For people with real money, dinners like this were about networking, not food.

Tonight, Cameron was just here as Kristen’s guest.

He turned to her, genuinely impressed. “Kristen, I had no idea you had connections with Mr. Russell from Minghang Defense. And Felix? He never says yes to these things.”

Felix’s dad was basically the top commander in the whole region.

Cameron lowered his voice, a little awestruck. “I heard Felix and Mr. Russell are already working together on some secret military project, but they need another partner. If Clive can pull this off, it’ll be another national-level contract for Cloudcrest—even bigger than the Green Wall project. The company’s value could triple. Clive would finally be the real boss.”

That was exactly why Clive was here.

Lately, his family was constantly in the tabloids. On top of that, somehow news of his divorce had reached Sammy, who wasted no time making nasty comments about Clive cheating and being a terrible husband. The family council wasn’t happy either. Bailey had already been called in for questioning and came back furious. She even sent Caroline straight out of the country.
