Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 256

“You… you’re divorcing Clive?!” Michael almost choked on his own tongue. “Come on, Amelia, you can’t be serious.”

Amelia, the ultimate Clive fangirl, wanting a divorce? That was about as likely as the sun rising in the west.

“I’m not joking, Michael. And stop calling me Amelia. Actually, don’t contact me again at all.”

She was done with all of Clive’s party buddies. She didn’t care about Michael’s reaction—she just hung up.

Michael stood there in shock, completely frozen, taking forever to process what just happened.

Cameron strolled over, cigarette in hand. “Still on the phone? When’s Amelia getting here? Tell her to bring something for the hangover. Clive just drank himself sick.”

Michael turned around slowly. “She’s not coming.”

“What?” Cameron thought he’d misheard.

Michael swallowed. “She said she and Clive are getting divorced.”

This time, Cameron caught every word.

His first thought was that Clive had finally seen the light and decided to dump Amelia.

He shrugged it off. “Wasn’t it just a matter of time? Amelia was never on Clive’s level. Now that Kristen closed the WestMed deal, Amelia’s got nothing left. Of course the Salmeron family’s going to throw her out.”

Michael just stared at him.

Was that really it?

He glanced back to see Clive stumbling out of the private room, an almost-empty bottle dangling from his hand.

On his way out, a girl in a skimpy top and tiny shorts slid up next to him, wrapping her arm around his neck and whispering something. Clive, eyes glazed and reeking of alcohol, shoved her off without a second thought.

“Get lost.”

“Whatever, freak!” she snapped, rubbing her arm where he’d pushed her.

Clive looked like a complete mess, barely able to stand.

“Where’s Amelia? Tell her if she’s not here in thirty minutes, she’ll regret it.”

Michael watched him, feeling a mix of things he couldn’t even name. He sighed. “I’ll try calling her again.”

He dialed, but his call didn’t even go through. He’d been blocked.

Cameron frowned, pulling out his own phone. “Let me try.”
