Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 258

“Mrs. Salmeron?” A gentle tap on her shoulder snapped Amelia out of her daze.

She spun around so fast her face went deathly pale. Her eyes, rimmed with red, startled the realtor standing behind her.

“I’m sorry, I’m not feeling well. I think I need to call it a day,” Amelia said, trying her best to keep her voice steady.

The realtor took one look at her and didn’t ask any questions. He had another appointment anyway, so he just offered to drive her to where she’d parked. No fuss.

After watching his car pull away, Amelia sank into her own seat. She leaned forward, pressing her forehead against the steering wheel, and took a few deep breaths, waiting for her heart to settle.

Amelia, don’t hate your father… Promise me, before you turn twenty-five, don’t go looking for him…

Her mother’s last words echoed in her mind.

Norma had clung to the only keepsake her father Hank ever gave her—a vintage ring, worn as a necklace, buried with her in the end.

Amelia knew why. Her mother didn’t want her life hijacked by hate. She wanted her to wait until she was old enough—twenty-five—before making any decisions.

But Amelia was twenty-seven now.

Seeing Bianca again, the anger was still as sharp as ever.

She lifted her head, eyes clearing as she pieced everything together.

Thinking back, those last two years of college, Clive had played her—comforting her, tricking her into taking endless medicine, all for Kristen’s sake.

Amelia let out a cold, bitter laugh.

If it had been any other woman living in Villa 79 at Goldenwater Bay, she would have just pegged Clive as a player, snapped a few photos, and moved on.

But it was Kristen. Which just made Clive a special kind of idiot.

He’d let Kristen string him along for years, like a clueless puppy.

Airport parking garage.

Amelia parked as close to the exit as she could. She didn’t have to wait long before Diana appeared, sunglasses and a cap pulled low as she scanned the area.

Amelia flashed her lights. Diana spotted her, hurried over, and practically tackled her in a bear hug as soon as she opened the door.

“Amelia, I missed you so much!”

Amelia laughed, trying to fend off Diana’s enthusiasm. “I missed you too.”

She wasn’t the type to make friends easily, but Diana’s relentless warmth had worn her down over the years.
