Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 265

“Ryan…”

Amelia’s worried voice snapped Ryan back to reality.

“You’re driving way too fast. Seriously, you’re speeding.”

The car was flying down the road, the city lights outside melting into a blur. Amelia’s heart was in her throat.

“This street is a cop magnet. If they catch you, you’ll lose your license for sure.”

She was hoping the mention of cops would slow him down.

Ryan kept his eyes ahead, sounding totally unfazed. “Can’t lose my license if I never had one.”

“What?!” Amelia stared at him in horror, which made Ryan let out a low laugh.

“I’m kidding. You’ll believe anything I say, huh?”

He eased off the accelerator, and the car finally started to slow.

They drove in silence for a while. When they stopped at a red light, Ryan glanced over. Amelia still had both hands clenched tight around her seatbelt.

Red dress, dark hair, skin like porcelain—she had no idea how stunning she looked. Like something out of a dream, both innocent and dangerously tempting.

“Ryan, can I borrow your phone?” Amelia’s voice was anxious. “My bag and phone are with Diana. She’ll freak if she can’t reach me.”

“Give me a sec.”

As soon as the light turned green, Ryan turned the wheel, pulled into a side street, and parked.

He got out, tossing his phone to her before he closed the door.

Amelia barely noticed him leaving. She hurried to call Diana.

It only rang once.

“Who’s this?” Diana sounded frazzled, definitely stressed.

“Diana, it’s me.”

The moment Diana recognized her voice, her tone softened.

“Amelia, where did you go?”

“I…” Amelia hesitated, not sure how to explain she was with Ryan. That would just open a whole new can of worms. She kept it simple. “It got chaotic, so I slipped out. Ran into a friend outside, he’s giving me a ride home. Come over to my apartment—it’s right across from the West Medicine Building, Number 1, Unit 1202…”

“Alright. Honestly, it’s good you left. Clive was losing his mind when he couldn’t find you.”

Amelia hesitated. “How is he now?”

“Some of his friends stepped in—a guy named Michael is taking him home.”

Amelia fell quiet, not asking anything else about Clive.

“What about Will?” She still felt awful that Will got caught in the crossfire tonight.

“Oh, he went out to look for you. Hold on, I’ll go find him and let him know you’re heading home.”
