Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 337

Speak of the devil—Amelia’s phone lit up with a call from Klaus Bailey.

Her phone was still on silent, so she ignored it.

Once Kristen and Caroline had left, Amelia slipped out, found a quiet spot, and called him back.

“Mr. Salmeron,” she greeted, her voice cool.

There was no need to play the family act anymore. She couldn’t even force out the word “Dad”—even thinking it made her skin crawl.

Bailey didn’t seem to mind her calling him “Uncle.”

“Amelia, I know things between you and Clive are over for good. But you’ve been part of the Salmeron family for years. I always thought of you as my own daughter. Honestly, I’m going to miss you.” His tone was thick with nostalgia, even a touch of sadness.

Amelia just smiled to herself, cold and silent.

No wonder Clive was so selfish and fake—he got it straight from Klaus.

Sure, in front of everyone, Klaus looked like the good guy—better to her than anyone else in the house, except maybe Mrs. Salmeron. At least that’s how it looked.

Outsiders would think Mrs. Salmeron, Caroline, and the old housekeeper were always making her life difficult.

But Amelia had finally wised up.

Bailey was the real boss of the Salmeron family. If he’d truly been as kind as he acted, Mrs. Salmeron and Caroline never would’ve dared to treat her so badly.

Father and son—both experts at playing nice.

“Uncle, thank you for taking care of me all these years,” Amelia replied, matching his act.

That was exactly what Bailey wanted to hear.

“Amelia, since you and Clive are getting divorced, I respect your decision. It’s just... I always thought of you as a daughter, and it’s hard to say goodbye. How about dinner tomorrow night? Just the two of us. I want to thank you for everything you’ve done for this family.”

A hint of a smile touched Amelia’s lips, but her eyes stayed icy. “Sure. I’d like to say a proper goodbye too.”

“I’ve already booked the restaurant. I’ll have the driver pick you up from West Medical after your shift.”

“Okay,” she said sweetly, while her gaze turned even colder.

After hanging up, Amelia started back toward the main hall.

She barely got a few steps before Diana came barreling toward her, face hidden under a big hat. Without a word, Diana grabbed her arm and hustled her out the back door.

“Move it! I just ordered a ‘Mistress’s Tofu Salad’ for Kristen’s table and tipped the waiter a thousand bucks to announce it on the loudspeaker when he serves it!”

Amelia stared at her, speechless.
