Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 345

Clive’s face turned colder with every word he overheard. He didn’t need to hear any more to know exactly what was going on. Without a word, he turned on his heel and walked straight back to the bedroom.

Amelia really would do anything to win custody of the kids. There was nothing she wouldn’t try—and then, as if that wasn’t enough, she had the audacity to play the victim.

He poured himself a stiff drink, downed it in one go, and clenched the empty glass so hard the veins on his hand stood out. The sharp crack of the glass hitting the marble countertop echoed through the room.

His phone started buzzing. Klaus was calling.

Clive tipped his head back, closed his eyes, and let out a long, heavy breath before answering.

“Dad.”

“I heard from Isaac. Amelia turned down the divorce agreement you offered.” Bailey’s voice was thick with disapproval. “Twenty million? Are you insane? She’s not even worth twenty thousand at this point.”

Bailey paused, then got straight to the point. “Aiden already booked you a flight for tomorrow morning. You’ll head to the city, show up at the charity foundation launch. We’ll take care of your itinerary, make sure the right photos get out.”

“You’ll come back the morning after. Reporters will be waiting at the airport. All you need to do is act clueless. Just play the perfect husband, the victim who’s been wronged.”

Clive loosened his grip on the glass, his voice rough as he asked, “Dad, what are you planning to do to Amelia tomorrow night?”

“That’s not your problem. The less you know, the better you’ll play your part.” Bailey chuckled, cold and dismissive. “She married you to be a stepping stone. Now that the marriage is over, her last use is to give you one final boost.”

Clive closed his eyes again, memories of Amelia’s stubbornness and the look in her eyes flashing through his mind. He hesitated, fighting an internal battle, but finally forced himself to nod.
