Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 347

Amelia froze, eyes wide in shock. Ryan’s face was suddenly way too close, and before she could even process what was happening, his lips—warm, soft, with a hint of whiskey—pressed right against hers.

She was too stunned to react. Ryan pulled away in a flash, and, unbelievably, the first thing he did was wipe his mouth.

The humiliation and anger hit her all at once. Without even thinking, Amelia slapped him hard across the face.

“Ryan, you’re out of your mind! I never want to see you again!”

Even now, when Amelia remembered that insane kiss, she couldn’t believe how reckless Ryan had been that night. He must have been completely wasted to act like that.

It wasn’t until much later, after the shock wore off, that it really hit her: technically, that had been her first kiss.

“Amelia, why are you blushing? Is it too hot in here?” Diana looked up from her phone, having just finished a mobile game, and noticed Amelia’s flustered face. She rolled down the window for her.

“Yeah, maybe a little.” Amelia was grateful for the excuse. She waved her hands in front of her cheeks, doing her best to look casual while her eyes darted away.

It’s fine, she told herself. Ryan probably didn’t even remember. He’d been so drunk that night.

The next day, Ryan showed up to class acting like nothing had happened—not a trace of guilt about that ambush of a kiss. He didn’t even bother to do their group assignment, as usual.

Diana dropped Amelia off in front of her company and then hurried off to meet her agent. She’d made Amelia promise to stay in touch, and had even threatened to call the cops and storm the place if Amelia didn’t check in on time.

There was no way Amelia would let Diana get dragged into her mess with the Salmeron family. Diana had spent ten years paying off the old debts her dad left behind, and she was finally about to clear them all. Amelia couldn’t let her get caught up in more trouble now.

Tonight, she told herself, nothing was going to happen.

She turned and headed inside the building, sending Nathan a quick message as she walked.

When it was almost time to get off work, Amelia packed up her things and stepped outside. A sleek black van pulled up right in front of her.

Daniel, from the Salmeron family, was behind the wheel.

“Mrs. Salmeron, please get in,” Daniel said, giving her a smile that was way too polite to be real.

Amelia acted cautious. “Why are you picking me up? Where’s Mr. Salmeron?”
