Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 356

Diana was cracking up on the other end of the call.

“Frontier Entertainment is full of geniuses, huh? Serves them right! Clive, that jerk, don’t even try to tell me his trip to New York yesterday was just a coincidence!”

Yeah, no chance it was.

Clive was always like this. Whenever the Salmerons made things hard for her, he’d just stand by, never stepping in, never stopping them. Like that was enough to keep his hands clean.

If she hadn’t turned the tables last night, the one everyone would be tearing apart online right now—calling names and spitting venom—would be her. Amelia.

“Amelia, the Salmerons are so desperate to get in touch they even tracked me down,” Diana said. “What are you going to do?”

“I’m going to wait,” Amelia answered, her voice steady. “It’s not the right time yet.”

While the Salmeron family was in chaos, Amelia just kept working like nothing had happened. Belle stopped by to check on her, didn’t ask about the family mess, just made sure Amelia was holding up. Seeing she was fine, Belle went back to her own work.

It was almost ten when Amelia finally wrapped up for the day.

She was torn between grabbing some takeout from the place next door or going home and cooking something healthier.

That’s when a tall figure stepped out from the shadows along the flowerbeds and walked straight toward her.

“Amelia…”

She narrowed her eyes, watching Clive get closer.

He was always so put-together in public, every shirt crisp, every detail perfect.

But tonight, Clive looked like a wreck. He wore a hat, his shirt was wrinkled and half-untucked, and the rest of him looked just as defeated.

The security guard at the entrance noticed and moved a little closer, hand hovering near his baton. He stopped when he saw Amelia didn’t seem worried, but he kept his eyes on Clive.

“Do you need something?” Amelia’s tone was cold, her expression even colder.

Clive’s throat worked as he swallowed, and he couldn’t look her in the eye.

“I… I just wanted to see if you were okay,” he stammered. “I sent Aiden to pick you up from the hotel last night, but by the time he got there, the whole place was crawling with cops…”

Without a word, Amelia lifted her hand and slapped him hard across the face. His hat flew off. He didn’t even try to dodge.

Her hand shook, whether from anger, hatred, or just the kind of disappointment that runs bone-deep.

“So you knew exactly what the Salmerons wanted to do to me last night, and you, Clive—you just let it happen!”

“How could you be so shameless? I used to be your wife! You stood there and promised to love and protect me forever. Even if you don’t love me anymore, I’m still Timmy and Penny’s mother!”
