Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 386

Dr. Velez said firmly, “That must’ve been a mistake during their testing. The bottle probably got contaminated somehow. But I’m telling you, from what I saw on Ms. Watts’s clothes and wounds, it was definitely concentrated sulfuric acid.”

He sounded so certain, Clive’s doubts disappeared on the spot.

“I see. Sorry to bother you.” Clive turned and walked out.

As soon as Clive left, Dr. Velez let out a shaky breath, closed his office door in a hurry, and went to the window. He pulled out his phone and dialed the number from earlier.

“Mrs. Lin, yes, don’t worry. I know exactly what to say.”

After hanging up, Dr. Velez opened the bottom desk drawer. Inside were three thick envelopes, stacked neatly.

Clive had just walked out of the hospital and slid into his car when his phone rang. It was Matthew.

“Salmeron, you might not be able to see Adlee.”

Clive frowned. “What do you mean?”

Trey sounded resigned. “Adlee got beat up so badly he’s unrecognizable. He’s missing half his teeth.”

Clive was floored. “What? Who did this?”

Wasn’t Adlee locked up at the police station? Who would dare attack someone in there?

He got his answer right away.

“It was Ryan Packman. Yeah, from the Packman family. Rumor is Ryan came in as the boss to check on things, and Adlee just lost it—pulled out a hidden razor blade and tried to attack him. Ryan’s neck got slashed, so he fought back in self-defense.”
