Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 430

By the time Amelia got to the police station, she finally understood what “a bit complicated” really meant.

All four suspects were banged up—scrapes, bruises, nothing too serious physically—but they looked terrified, like they’d seen something that would haunt them forever. Every time someone walked past the holding cell, they’d flinch, shivering and blurting out, “I don’t know, I really don’t know…”

“We’ll confess! We’ll talk! Just let us go…”

“Please, help us! Somebody help!”

Amelia frowned, her concern plain on her face. These guys looked like they’d been pushed past their breaking point—their nerves absolutely shot.

Detective Shane, who was leading the case, met her with a cup of water and a tired smile. “All four are wanted men. Get this—they called us themselves, told us where they were, and begged the cops to come save them.”

Even Shane seemed to think it was ridiculous.

Amelia blinked. “Save them?”

“Yeah. They said they have no idea who they pissed off, but when we found them, they were literally buried waist-deep in concrete. Took us forever to dig them out.”

She just stared at him. Had these guys been double-crossed by someone even worse?

Shane went on, “Ms. Sadinton, do you remember six years ago, when your husband Clive was kidnapped, and you went in alone with the ransom?”

Amelia nodded. “I remember.”

Back then, she’d had nightmares for months—dreams where her hands were drenched in blood.

Shane’s face turned serious. “The mastermind behind that kidnapping, Levi—the guy you took an eye from—he’s still out there. We never caught him. According to these four, they met Levi while they were on the run, and made him their leader.”

He paused, then said, “This attack on you? Levi set it up. He wants revenge. But none of these guys know where he is.”

He looked right at her, his voice low. “We’ve got APBs out at the airport, dock, and every highway entrance. We’ll catch him. But Ms. Sadinton, you need to watch your back. Levi’s after you.”

He hesitated, then added, “You should tell your husband, Clive, to get you some extra security. You risked your life for him, after all—”

“We’re divorced,” Amelia cut in, her tone flat.

Shane froze, frowning in disbelief. “Divorced? After everything you did for him? He owes you his life!”

He’d been there back then—SWAT, helicopters, the whole nine yards. Levi’s crew were maniacs, armed with homemade guns and explosives. Even the negotiation team was shaken. And Amelia, all by herself, had walked in with the ransom.
