Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 431

A phone call came in right as Amelia was wiping away her tears. She glanced at the screen, surprised, then picked up.

“Mr. Packman...”

It was Ryan.

He noticed something off in her voice and paused for a second before asking, “Were you crying?”

“No, just a sore throat,” she lied, moving to turn on the lights. “Did you need something?”

Ryan’s voice was cool and calm. “You still owe me a midnight snack. Remember?”

Amelia blinked. “Right now?”

She was about to tell him she was too tired to go out when he said, “Open your door.”

Amelia hesitated, then checked the video doorbell. Francisco was standing outside, holding a big bag and grinning innocently at the camera.

She opened the door.

“Ms. Sadinton, here’s your late-night snack. Enjoy. I’ll be heading out,” Francisco said, setting the bag down before she could even reply. He didn’t give her a chance to say anything—just turned and left.

Back on the phone, Ryan sounded lazy. “Didn’t feel like going out tonight. Do a video call and eat with me.”

Amelia just stared at her phone. Only Ryan could make something so odd feel totally normal. He never played by the rules anyway.

And honestly, she was hungry. She unpacked the food Francisco had brought—shrimp and crab congee, nutty pastries, all single servings, even a little fruit cup. Everything was just right for one person.

Ryan ended the call and switched to video. His room was pitch dark, just a faint bit of moonlight coming through the window. She could barely make out his shape. He seemed to be lying in bed.

“Ryan, I can’t see you.”

He gave a quiet laugh, his voice lazy and teasing. “You wish. Staring at my face costs extra.”

Amelia rolled her eyes. “Forget it, just pretend I didn’t say anything.”

Honestly, his shamelessness was on another level.

She ate quietly, while Ryan stayed mostly silent. Every now and then she heard some rustling, but she couldn’t see anything from her angle.

Finally, she couldn’t help herself. “Ryan, aren’t you eating?”

“Already did.”

“Oh.”

After a moment, he asked, “Is it good?”

“It’s really good.”

He’d gotten everything she liked. Amelia wondered if Ryan really knew her that well. How else did he always manage to order exactly what she wanted?

“Ryan?”

“Hmm?” His reply was soft, a little sleepy, almost kind of sexy.

“How did you know I liked all this?”

There was a pause, then he snorted. “You think I bought it myself? I just sent someone with a list.”
