Shane's mother and daughter were both in the hospital. Something this serious had happened, yet Valeria was the only one running around, handling everything on her own.

He had seen how badly she had cried last night.

Valeria looked at him calmly, his expression the total opposite of hers.

Sebastian was still gripping her wrist. Medical staff and patients passed by in the hallway, all throwing curious, nosy glances at the two of them, especially the nurses.

Sebastian shifted slightly, blocking Valeria from their view.

His voice came out low, deep from his throat. "What's Shane's number? If you won't call him, I will."

His own daughter and mother were both hospitalized, and Shane hadn't even shown up. What kind of man would leave his wife to shoulder everything alone just because they were in a long-distance marriage?

Valeria also noticed the strange looks around them.

"Let me go first," she said, keeping her tone even.

Looking at him, she finally relented. "I'll go check on the surgical ward first. Then, I'll call Shane."

The moment she said she'd call Shane, Sebastian frowned.

He didn't know what was wrong with him, but hearing her actually say she'd call her husband only made him feel worse.

"Let go of me." Valeria glanced at the nurse passing by, who widened her eyes with blatant curiosity, staring at Sebastian still gripping her wrist.

Sebastian's face was well-known around the hospital.

Seeing his expression so tightly drawn, Valeria couldn't help letting out a small sigh. She reached up, and with her fingertips, gently pressed the space between his brows.

"Don't frown."

Her fingers were cool and soft, like they'd been dusted with snow. The moment they touched his skin, they melted.

Sebastian froze. His expression shifted slightly, almost unnatural.

For a moment, it was like his whole body had gone still. After a few seconds, he raised his hand and brushed hers away. Without a word, he turned and walked back into the hospital room.

"Mr. Grant, where's Mommy?" Selena sat on the bed, watching Sebastian walk in alone.
