Adia’s POY
Once in the car, Marco looked at my lips, which I had bitten until they turned white. He sighed helplessly, Alie, let me explain what happened.”
I wasn’t being petty, but I simply couldn’t trust María.
flow, learning that Marco had once dated Maria, I felt anxious and confused, even somewhat afraid.
Marco held my hand and said seriously, “Yes, I’ve met her before, and I was supposedly in a relationship
with her.”
“Supposedly? What does that mean?” I asked curiously.
Marco continued, “I only met her twice, then somehow became her boyfriend without my knowledge, and then was inexplicably dumped by her.”
I wanted to believe Marco, but his explanation was difficult to accept.
I glanced at him without speaking, then turned to look out the window.
My silence left Marco at a loss for words. He looked at my turned back and pulled me into his arms.
I pushed hard against him, but his strength was too great. When I couldn’t break free, I balled my hands into fists and struck him twice.
“Alia, trust me,” he said.
His voice was deep and powerful, yet tinged with helplessness.
I stopped struggling, bit my lip, and asked softly, “Was meeting me at that blind date really just a coincidence?”
“It wasn’t a coincidence. I arranged to have your actual blind date sent away,” Marco replied, looking
directly at me.
Three years ago, Marco had come to Montrano to end things with Maria, as he was still technically her boyfriend.
What Marco never expected was that his arrival in Montrano would coincide with the drama unfolding between the Rossi and Castro families.
Sisters in love with the same fiancé; the elder sister pregnant with the fiancé’s chi, the younger sister framed as a homewrecker, publicly shamed, and expelled from the Rossi family.
On my last night in Montrano, I went to a bar and got completely drunk, even vomiting on Marco.

Chapter 124
If Marco hadn’t stayed with me that night, I might have been abducted without even knowing it.
Marco was so grateful he had come to Montrano that day, and even more grateful that he had met me.
Because of that brief encounter three years ago, he recognized me instantly when we met again.
That day at the Red Rose Restaurant, Marco had cleared the place in advance, though I didn’t know it. I naively assumed Marco was my blind date.
Marco recognized me immediately and pretended to be my date, which led to everything that followed.
The idea that Marco would agree to marry me after just one blind date sounded like an impossible fairy
tale to outsiders.
But to me, Marco’s deep gaze was sincere, without a trace of falsehood or concealment.
Besides, Marco and I had been married for over three months, and during that time, he had never deceived
me once.
Marco treated me well–exceptionally well. Just yesterday, we had been talking about having a baby together.
Thinking of this, I stopped dwelling on his past with Maria. I nestled into his embrace and wrapped my arms around his lean waist.
“Then you must never have any contact with Maria again,” I said.
Now that my mother was gone, Marco was the only family I had left. I was terrified that one day he might leave me too, abandoning me to complete solitude.
What would I do then?
Marco held me tight, his chin resting on my head, embracing me fiercely.
I personally arranged my mother’s funeral. It wasn’t extravagant, and few people were invited, but I put my heart into every small detail.
I chose a plot for my mother in Montrano’s finest cemetery, selecting a location with an expansive view.
During her lifetime, my mother had been confined like a prisoner, never able to go out and explore the world properly.
I hadn’t been able to take care of her well, so this small, insignificant gesture wa hoping she had gone to heaven.
“I could do now,
