Roxanne couldn't be bothered with Sebastian. She rushed out of the door, moving quickly without a second thought, not caring whether he followed her or not.

Her apartment was just a short distance from the college. The café that Cecilia had mentioned was on the same street. In less than ten minutes, she arrived.

Sure enough, Cecilia and Rita were waiting for her in the café. As soon as they saw her, they stood up with their arms crossed, looking down at her with smug expressions.

Rita raised an eyebrow and said, "Kneel."

There was no small talk. They went straight to the point.

Roxanne scoffed. "Do you really think I'm as foolish as you? Should I kneel just because you say so? First, show me the pendant. I want to see it."

The two exchanged a glance.

Cecilia's voice turned sharp. "Roxanne, I said, kneel! If you don't, I'll destroy your mother's heirloom."

Roxanne looked at them as if they were fools. "I may cherish the heirloom my mother gave me, but I'm not stupid. I want to see it first!"

She added, "And besides, if my mother knew I'd lose my dignity and pride over a pendant, she'd be furious. She wouldn't want me to degrade myself over some trinket."

That last part was true. Whether Shannon was alive or not, she knew her mother wouldn't want her to compromise her dignity over a mere object. But still, the pendant was incredibly important to her. To her, dignity was nothing.

But that was all beside the point. The most important thing was that she needed to see the pendant first. She didn't trust Rita's and Cecilia's integrity.

After exchanging another glance, Cecilia gave a slight nod to Rita.

Rita reached into her pocket and pulled out a pendant. She opened her hand briefly so Roxanne could catch a glimpse before quickly pulling it back again.

"Now, kneel," Rita demanded.

Roxanne couldn't help but laugh. "Are you both out of your minds? I'm here, and the pendant is right in your hands. Why are you hiding it? You only showed it for a second. I didn't see anything!"
