Roxanne walked up to Rita and Cecilia with a cold expression. "Give me the real one," she demanded.
Sebastian stood nearby, his cold gaze growing more intense. His presence radiated authority, and the atmosphere became heavy with a chilling air.
Rita and Cecilia, both from humble backgrounds, were paralyzed by the weight of Sebastian's presence. His mere gaze was enough to make them quake in fear. It was the natural suppressive effect someone in power had on ordinary people.
They could feel the murderous intent emanating from him. It was as though if they didn't hand over the pendant now, something terrible would happen. Rita and Cecilia trembled—not just from fear but from confusion as well.
Sebastian had always seemed indifferent to Roxanne. It was hard to understand why he was stepping in for her today. He had never done so before.
After all, Roxanne was married to another man. She should be completely out of his life. Their relationship should be over.
Yet despite all that, Sebastian was here, standing by her side.
Sebastian's patience was running thin. "Where's the pendant?" His voice was steady but deadly.
Rita and Cecilia flinched and quickly started to speak. "We don't know where the real pendant is. It's not with us. We only made a fake one to threaten Roxanne. We really don't know where the real one is."
Their faces showed both terror and confusion as they huddled together, looking ready to cling to one another for comfort.
Roxanne scoffed from the side. "You don't know where it is? My pendant has always been around my neck. The only time I took it off, I lost it. But you managed to replicate the details of the pendant perfectly. Without the original, how could you have done that?"
She thought, "Do they think I'm that naive?"
Most of the time, the pendant was hidden beneath her clothes and rarely visible. Even if they had seen what it looked like, there was no way they could have described it well enough for someone to carve it perfectly.
