Chapter 44
The name Leslie came to my mind. Caitlyn and he had already picked a name for their child.
The Leslie Group would be inherited by this child.
I smiled faintly, “It’s okay. Denise, Johan, and I will go together. Don’t worry. I’m already capable of taking on responsibilities.”
Leland seemed relieved and smiled broadly at me, “You have really grown up and are becoming self-reliant.”
I remained silent. The food I had eaten many times felt hard to swallow today.
It was as if my throat had been slashed, causing intense pain.
At that moment, all I wanted was to leave. I didn’t want to see Leland’s false front anymore.
When Denise called me, I grabbed my suitcase and walked out.
Leland, who had only taken a few sips of coffee, followed me.
I turned, puzzled.”Wait, honey, are you coming too? With the company’s annual meeting and clients needing you, can you really leave?”
Leland gently took my hand.”No matter how busy I am, your safety is my priority. I’ll take you to the client’s and then return with Johan.”
I was surprised. Denise, Johan, and I had already planned to travel together, yet Leland insisted on ensuring my safety.
After all, Caitlyn had mentioned planning to kill me, and I didn’t know when she might act.
Johan was concerned about my safety.
Seeing how Leland treated me, Denise scratched her head, confused.
Maybe she couldn’t see through the fact that Leland was a scumbag, which bothered her.
“Mr. Pearson, you can rest assured, we will be with her. You are usually so busy; there’s no need to waste your time.”
Leland replied seriously, “It’s fine. I’ll take Kaylie there and return in the afternoon.”
Denise nodded nervously.”Mr. Pearson, you’re really thoughtful and caring towards Ms. Perez. You two are a perfect match.”
Leland frowned, then nodded. Thank you.”
