Chapter 406 Did those two little brats follow us???
“What’s wrong?” Second asked, looking at First.
“I can’t get through again!” First replied anxiously.
“What did Scarlett say?” Second inquired.

First frowned deeply, “I feel like Scarlett was hinting at something, like she was trying to tell us something…”
Though First didn’t finish the sentence, Second understood the implication.
Both of their faces looked equally troubled. Second asked, “Were we too hasty in sharing the news with Scarlett?”

“It was hasty, but at least Scarlett will be on guard now. Otherwise, I’m really worried she might believe someone else!” First said.
“So what do we do now?” Second asked.
“Let’s go back to the room and think it over,” First suggested.
So, they both returned to the room.
They paced back and forth inside.
Second said, “The priority now is to find Scarlett.”
Sitting in front of the computer, Second looked serious. “Easier said than done. Is Scarlett really that easy to find?”
Second’s brow furrowed, “What about Dad? Has he found any news about Scarlett?”
When Hugo Hodges was mentioned, First squinted his eyes and shook his head, “Not sure, but probably not yet…”
“How about we give him a call?” Second suggested.
First thought for a moment and looked at him, “You call!”
Second frowned slightly, considering it, “Fine, I’ll ask!” He said, grabbing his phone and walking to the side.
Staring at Hugo’s number, Second hesitated as if he had a communication barrier, organizing his words in his mind over
and over…
Meanwhile, on Hugo’s end,
He was sitting with Ray in front of the computer, watching Chris Baker operate, his eyes narrowed intently.
“How’s it going?”
“Can’t find it, checked both routes, but it’s not there!”
“Are you sure?” Hugo asked.
Chris’s fingers continued to move swiftly, “I’m very sure, I checked each one, definitely no oversight…”
Then, Chris paused for a moment, staring at the computer, his brow furrowing.
“What is it?”

“I think I might have found the reason,” Chris said.
“What reason?”
Chris’s fingers tapped rapidly a few times, the computer screen flashed with various things, and soon, an image appeared
before them.
“Look here, the surveillance footage has intervals, about fifteen seconds. Someone tampered with it before us,” Chris said. Hugo studied the footage. Indeed, the transitions weren’t smooth, with a fifteen–second gap.
“Are you saying someone deleted fifteen seconds of footage?” Hugo asked.
Chris nodded, “Yes!”
Hugo squinted, pondering over the situation.
Just then, Ray approached him, “J, the team reported back. They searched the area you mentioned thoroughly but found nothing!”
Hugo’s pale face darkened slightly. He couldn’t believe Scarlett had vanished into thin air.
Based on what he knew about Scarlett, if she appeared in a place twice, she must be staying nearby. Yet, they hadn’t found anything…
As he thought about it, Hugo glanced at the surveillance on the computer and suddenly had an idea. “Is there a fifteen–second gap on both routes, or just here?”
Chris quickly pulled up another segment. Ten minutes later, he said, “Everything else is normal; only this segment has the gap.
“Does that mean the person went this way, so that’s why there’s less here?” Hugo wondered aloud.
Ray nodded, “Makes sense.”
Chris, sitting in his chair, quickly slid forward and placed his hands on the keyboard with determination. “I’ll keep checking along this route to see if there’s anything else.”
Watching Chris work, Hugo’s eyes flickered with a strange light.
Ray stood nearby, observing Hugo’s tense expression and the way his eyes briefly closed.
Just then, Hugo’s phone rang.
He pulled it out and saw it was Second calling. Hugo got up and moved to the side to take the call.
“Hello.”
“Dad,” Second began.
“What’s up?”
Despite having rehearsed so many words, First found himself at a loss, his mind blank.
“What’s up?” Hugo asked again, hearing the silence on the other end.
“I, I just wanted to ask if you’ve found Scarlett yet?” Second asked directly, abandoning his rehearsed lines.

Hugo paused for a moment, “Not yet.”
“Any news at all?”
“Well, there’s been some progress. I’ll find him soon,” Hugo said.
“Really?” Second asked.
“A few days ago, I was at a place for dinner and almost bumped into her. Missed the chance, but I know she’s somewhere nearby. I’ll find her soon!” Hugo explained.

Listening to him, Second felt a rush of excitement. “You saw Scarlett?”
“A friend did,” Hugo replied.
“And then?”
“Then Scarlett disappeared. She’s very cautious, probably protecting herself. But don’t worry, I’ll find her soon!” Hugo
reassured.
