Back at Ray’s house.
Hugo had arranged rooms for both of them.

Before leaving, he looked at them and said, “Get some rest tonight. We’ll talk about everything in the morning.”
“Do we really need to talk?” First suddenly asked.
Hugo turned back to him, “What do you think?”
“Why not just deal with it all at once? Leaving it for tomorrow just makes the night more nerve–wracking!” First replied.
“When you snuck along, weren’t you afraid of being on edge?” Hugo asked.
First was silent.
Seeing First fall quiet, Hugo smiled slightly and turned to leave.
“Dad, so there’s still no news about Scarlett?” Second quickly asked.
Hugo turned back, his gaze settling on Second. A hint of concern flickered in his deep eyes. “There is news, but I always arrive a step too late. But don’t worry, she’s safe now. Next time, I’ll find her sooner!” Hugo assured.
Second nodded, “I understand.”
“Get some rest.”
With that, Hugo turned and walked out.
As the door closed, First let out a heavy sigh and turned to look at Second. “Why did Dad put us in the same room today?”
“How should I know?!”
“Don’t you think Dad’s acting a bit strange tonight?” First asked.
Second thought about it seriously and nodded, “A little.”
First walked over to the bed and sat down. “I have a feeling Dad has something planned for us tomorrow!”
“Then it’s all on you tomorrow,” Second said.
“Why?” First asked.
“Because you’re the only one who can play chess with Dad!” Second replied.
First squinted his eyes. “Is that a compliment?”
“If it were Tara Green saying it, what do you think it would be?” Second countered.
First immediately lost interest, “Don’t pick up bad habits from Tara Green.”
“I actually think Tara Green makes a lot of sense!”
“Don’t blindly assume things about others. Stay true to yourself!” With that, First lay down on the bed.
Second realized something was off and frowned as he watched First roll himself up in the blanket. “How am I supposed

to sleep like this?”
“Go ask Dad to get you another room,” First suggested.
“Why aren’t you going?”
“I claimed this bed first.”
Second wasn’t backing down and started to fight for it.

Meanwhile, outside.
Hugo went downstairs.
Ray was sitting on the couch in the living room. As he watched Hugo approach, he couldn’t help but say, “I still find it hard
to believe!” He looked up at Hugo, “Am I dreaming right now?”
Hugo walked over and sat down. “Or, you could try pinching yourself to find out!”
Ray was speechless.
Looking at Hugo, Ray suddenly leaned in. “I always thought you were against marriage. I never imagined you’d be ahead
of us all, with kids already–three of them, no less…”
He looked at Hugo. “Can I ask how it feels?”
“How what feels?” Hugo glanced at him.
“Having kids, what’s it like?” Ray asked curiously.
To him, it was unbelievable and hard to comprehend.
He couldn’t imagine the battle–hardened Hugo having two little kids–no, three!
Seeing Ray’s curious expression, Hugo furrowed his brow slightly. “…I guess it’s kind of… magical?”
“What’s so special about it?”
Hugo looked at him. “Want to know?”
“Yeah!” Ray nodded.
“Why not have one yourself and find out?” Hugo countered.
Ray was speechless. “…”
Is this really something people dare to think about?
“Don’t joke around!” Ray said.
“I’m not joking. Once you have one, you’ll understand deeply. Sons are great, but having a daughter, you’ll realize how wonderful it is!” Hugo explained.
“How wonderful?” Ray was curious.
Thinking about Fourth, Hugo’s eyes softened. “She’ll stick to you all the time, act cute, care for you, say sweet things to

Ray was puzzled. “???”
He couldn’t quite picture Hugo holding a little girl.
“Are you sure it’s really that magical?” Ray remained skeptical.
“Absolutely. You’ll even want to give her all the best things in the world,” Hugo said, the tenderness on his face was genuine.
At that moment, Ray was doubtful, but also intrigued.
Seeing Ray deep in thought, Hugo spoke up, “Have a kid, and you’ll understand. Life becomes just life, no more lofty dreams.”
Ray snapped back to reality and, after a moment’s thought, replied, “Have a kid? No way. If I do, wouldn’t that mean I’ve lost to you?”
“You think everyone gets as lucky as me?” Hugo said.
Then, realizing that wasn’t quite right, he added, “No, I mean, do you think everyone has my strong abilities and genes?”
Ray retorted, “Shameless!”
Hugo’s lips curled into a smile.
Ray looked at him, “Show me a picture of your daughter.”
Hugo shook his head, “Can’t bear to!”
