Chapter 418 I’ll be the godfather to your child.
Ray initially thought Hugo was just trying to provoke him with his words.
But after seeing the video of that soft and sweet little girl, Ray understood the feeling.
It was an indescribable joy.
And a sense of wanting more, like he hadn’t seen enough.
“Why were you dodging earlier? Let me see what’s going on,” Ray said, looking at him with dissatisfaction.
“Afraid you’d scare her!”
Ray was speechless. “Can you stop talking nonsense so seriously?”
Hugo couldn’t help but laugh.
“Your son is already on the Dark Web, and you’re worried I’d scare your daughter?” Ray found it hard to believe.
Hugo thought for a moment and nodded, “True.”
“When did you become so stingy?”
“This isn’t something I can be generous about!”
Seeing his expression, Ray frowned, “Hugo, are you showing off to me?”
“Am I?”
“Your expression says it all!”
Hugo raised an eyebrow, not wanting to deny it, “Maybe!”
Ray was a bit annoyed, but then a thought suddenly formed in his mind.
Looking at Hugo, he closed his eyes briefly.
“What’s your daughter’s name?”
“Fourth!”
“Fourth? Like the number four?” Ray asked.
“Yep!”
“What about Three?” Ray continued, “You don’t have another one, do you?”
Hugo thought for a moment. “No Three!”
“Why not?”
“You tell me,” Hugo replied.
Ray pondered for a moment. “A third wheel… yeah, that doesn’t sound too great.”
“But isn’t this naming a bit too simple?” Ray questioned.

“Simplicity is beauty. I think it’s perfect!” Hugo said confidently.
Ray looked at him. “Aren’t you being a bit too naive?”

Hugo turned to him, clearly annoyed. “What do you know? You’re a lone wolf; you wouldn’t understand.”
Ray sighed, “I feel personally attacked.”
“Drop the ‘feel‘ part, and you’re spot on.”
Ray was speechless for a moment. It was clear Hugo wouldn’t let anyone criticize his little darling.
After thinking for a bit, Ray spoke up, “I have an idea. Wondering if you’d be open to it!”
“No way!” Hugo rejected immediately.
“You haven’t even heard it yet!” Ray frowned.
“No need to hear it!”
Ray stared at him. “Hugo, aren’t you being a bit too arrogant?”
“Is it your first day knowing me?”
Ray was at a loss for words. After a moment, he decided to play the friendship card. “Come on, buddy, won’t you at least give me a chance to speak?”
“You can say whatever you want, but it’s best to drop any ideas you have,” Hugo advised, looking at him.
Ray looked back, defiant. “How about I become the godfather to your kid?”
“NO!” Hugo refused immediately.
Ray frowned. “Won’t you at least consider it?”
“Not considering it!” Hugo replied firmly.
“Maybe I’ll never have kids of my own, and everything I have could go to them. Isn’t that worth considering?” Ray asked.
“Do I look like I’m lacking anything?” Hugo shot back.
“Isn’t more always better?” Ray countered.
Hugo thought seriously for a moment. “If you really can’t figure out what to do with your stuff, I might reluctantly let them accept it, but anything else is a no–go.”
“Why not?”
“Probably because I can’t stand the thought of my kids calling someone else ‘daddy,” Hugo said.
“It’s godfather!”
“Still no!” Hugo insisted.
Ray looked at him, his handsome features filled with frustration. Finally, he blurted out, “Hugo, your possessiveness… it’s just like before.”
“Shows I haven’t changed,” Hugo murmured.

Ray stared at him, utterly exasperated.
“Remember when we first met, and you said if you ever had kids, you’d let me be their godfather?” Ray asked. “Are you going back on your word now?”
Hugo thought for a moment. It seemed there was indeed such a conversation, during a night of drinking when they were founding DX together.
Thinking back, Hugo replied, “That was just drunken talk, don’t take it seriously.”

“Drunken talk? You were drunk then? Hugo, not only have you become possessive, but you’re also getting better at lying with a straight face!”
“Really?”
“And you’re getting more shameless!”
an’t help it, it’s a skill I’ve developed,” Hugo said.
Without a bit of shamelessness, Scarlett would have run off with someone else long ago, and he wouldn’t have what he
has now.
Ray was at a loss for words, just nodding in frustration as he looked at Hugo.
Ray picked up the glass of red wine in front of him and downed it in one go.
Seeing Ray’s anger, Hugo stood up and patted his shoulder. “It’s getting late, get some rest.”
As he was about to leave, he suddenly remembered something and turned back to Ray. “Cut down on the drinking; it’s not good for your health, and it won’t help with having kids.”
Ray was speechless.
Watching Hugo’s smug expression, Ray was fuming inside.
A pillow was tossed over, and Hugo caught it effortlessly. He glanced at it, then tossed it aside and headed back to his
room.
Watching him leave, Ray shook his head with a smile. He had to admit, Hugo had changed a lot over the years. Changed
in ways that made others envious.
The next day.
