Rebirth Snatching Back My Stolen Luck novel Chapter 40

Chapter 40

I don’t want to go to school tomorrow. I don’t want to see their faces. I don’t want to hear them laugh at me again.

I hate it when they point. I hate it when they whisper and act like I can’t hear them. Everyday, I feel like a monkey in a circus- just there for them to laugh at.

Why won’t she listen to me? Why does it feel like she doesn’t care?

But maybe I’ll try telling her again. Or Dad?

Do you think they’ll listen this time?

I hope they will.

That was where the entry ended.

I hadn’t even noticed I was crying until I saw the water stains soaking into the page.

My hand instinctively went to my chest, pressing against the sharp ache there.

It felt like I was back there, reliving every moment of that childhood confusion and suffocation.

And yet

When I confronted them the morning after the banquet two days ago, both my parents claimed they had no idea I ever hated pink.

My mother even insisted it was my favorite color.

My father had said I should’ve spoken up sooner.

And because of my faulty memories, even I had believed that I’d never told them.

But this journal said otherwise.

I had stood up for myself.

I’d tried to speak.

And they ignored me.

Dismissed my feelings as childish whims, and then conveniently forgot.

I laughed bitterly, wiping the tear stains from my face.

I really hadsuch wonderful parents.

It took a while to compose myself. But even after I did, I didn’t continue reading the journal.

Not just because a single entry had left me this emotionally drainedthough that alone was enoughbut because I hadn’t forgotten why I’d searched for it in the first place.

I needed it to unlock the tablet.

With that in mind, I turned to the last page of the journal. And just like I remembered, several password patterns were scribbled there.

Without wasting time, I stood and grabbed the tablet from the vanity. Settling back down on the bed, I prepared to try them one by one.

Then I noticed that one of the passwords had been marked with a tiny asterisk. A note beside it, written in brackets, read: tab.

Tab?

Could that be short for tablet?

I tested it immediately, keying in the characters and numbers from the journal.

A soft click sounded, and the tablet unlocked, making my heart leap in excitement.

The moment the wallpaper appeared, my eyes were instantly drawn to itan animestyle drawing of a female charac- ter glancing over her shoulder with a bright smile. She had windswept hair and eyes full of life.

Something about it tugged at me.

Not just that it seemed familiarbut like it had come from my own fingers.

Something vague flashed across my mind at the thought, too fast for me to catch it.

As a result, I could only brush the thought aside before it could take root.

I might be overthinking it. Maybe I’d just seen it somewhere before.

Frowning, I turned my attention to the home screen. It was almost bare, with only two app icons sitting there.

I tapped the first.

A notification popped up: Please update your app to continue using our services.

The same happened with the second.

A thought crossed my mind.

I pulled down the control panel,.and just as I suspected, the tablet wasn’t connected to WiFiit had been switched off.

With a sigh, I turned it on, found Caldwell Mansion’s home network, and entered the password.

The moment it connected, notifications began flooding the screen, one after another, making the device lag.

Some, in particular, caught my eye:
