[Even if I swore you’re overthinking, you wouldn’t necessarily believe me. And the next time something like this hap- pens, you’d became doubtful again.]
“So what should I do?”
[Give yourself a reason to believe. One that’d never waver.]
[Whether this is a rebirth or a dream, if your conviction is absolute and you live the life you want, does it matter? In your last life, you’ve already lost everything. Now, you’ve got nothing left to lose.]
Its words struck something deep in me.
Yes.
Did it matter? Dream or not, Imagination or not, the answer was the same–I just needed to live.
At this realization, the tightness in my chest began to ease.
[One more piece of advice.] May added.
I pulled out a wet wipe from my bag, dabbing away the water on my cheeks as I spoke. “Go on.”
[Think of this life as the one you would have lived if not for Claire and that scrap of metal. Every gain, every joy is rightfully yours.]
Then the voice went silent, leaving me alone with my reflection.
My original trajectory…?
My eyes lit up as I remembered May’s words from the very beginning:
[… you were meant to be the female lead–destined for a smooth sailing life until you passed away peacefully in your twilight years.]
Presuming that to be true, then from now on…

“Feeling better?” she asked, stepping closer.

“Yes. I must have eaten something that upset my stomach, but I’m fine now,” I said with a smile. “Sorry for worrying
you.”
A mock–serious look crossed her face. “I should be the one thanking you for being fine. Otherwise, I’d have no idea how to explain to my superiors that our company’s newly found golden goose got sick on my watch.”
Her description made me chuckle. “Then I guess I’ll have to take better care of myself from now on, so you don’t get scolded.”
“You bet.” She grinned. “Come on, let’s head back.”
We returned to Freya’s office, only to find uninvited guests already waiting inside.
For a split second, I even thought we’d walked into the wrong room, until I spotted a familiar head of blonde hair
The two men looked up at the sound of the door.
It really was him.
O
“Dean,” I whispered, arching a brow.
Surprise flickered in his eyes as he stood and walked over to me. “What are you doing here?”
“Shouldn’t I be asking you that?”
He smiled faintly. “I’m here to meet someone.
“I
“What a coincidence.” I crossed my arms, then glanced at Freya. “So am I.”
Freya closed the door, her tone lightly scolding. “You might be the president, but it’s not exactly polite to barge into my office.”
Then she looked between Dean and I. “You two know each other?”
I gave a noncommittal nod.
Then I remembered her mention of president just now, making me look more closely at the other man.
Recognition clicked.
Callum Moore–the young president of Raven Entertainment. I’d seen his face on enough TV and magazine covers to recognize him.
Just then, I saw him turn his cool gaze on Freya. “I want to meet Longing Bird.”
Something in his tone, posture, and presence reminded me of Julian the same poker face, the same cold edge in
their voice..
