Chapter 64

I didn’t dare look back as I could still feel Uncle Theo’s gaze on me, and if I met it, I knew leaving would be ten times harder.

From now on…

I thought as I got into the waiting cab and stole one last glance at the house.

…unless it was absolutely necessary, I’d likely never step inside again.

Thanks to Dean’s arrangements, I dropped my suitcase at the villa without issue, leaving it right by the entrance, instead of stepping further inside.

I was afraid that if I did, I wouldn’t want to leave again.

Afterward, I got back into the cab I’d asked to wait outside the gates and told the driver to head for Raven Tower.

Inside the lobby, Maggie greeted me with warmth, no less enthusiastic than yesterday. “Welcome again, Miss Lilith.”

“Good afternoon, Maggie,” I replied with a polite smile.

“You’re here to see Miss Freya, right?” she asked, glancing at the screen in front of her.

“No,” I corrected gently. “Not her. Callum.”

“The president?” she blinked.

“Yes.”

“Do

you have an appointment?” she asked, her tone tinged with hesitation. “I’m afraid you can’t meet him without one.’

“Not… exactly,” I admitted. “But someone will come pick me up.”

I’d sent Dean a message that I’d arrived just before I got out of the cab.

As if on cue, his voice sounded behind me, “Elise.”

I turned and smiled at him before gesturing toward Maggie. “He’s already here.”

“Oh-so you meant Mr. Callahan,” Maggie said, realization dawning on her face.

My fingers twitched. Her tone carried effortless familiarity with him, or rather his presence, that it only deepened the suspicions I’d been holding,

“Let’s go,” Dean said as he strode closer. “Callum has a meeting in half an hour, so we should hurry,”

“See you around,” I told Maggie hurriedly before following him.

Inside the elevator, I not-so-secretly sneaked glances at Dean until he finally couldn’t ignore

Arching a brow, he smiled helplessly. “If you have something to say, go ahead.”

“Nothing much,” I said casually. “I just noticed the staff here seem… very familiar with you.”

I didn’t say the rest aloud, but I knew he’d understand

my

doubts.

To my surprise, he only raised a brow, answering just as casually, “Is that strange? I’m Callum’s best friend, after all.”

I gave him a sidelong look, slightly annoyed that he was deliberately downplaying it. “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.”

Then I turned away, ignoring him.

He chuckled. “Alright, I’ll tell you the truth.”

He leaned slightly closer. “Actually, I’m also a shareholder of Raven Entertainment.”

I had already suspected as much, but hearing it confirmed still made my heart skip.

Before I could think of how to respond, the elevator doors opened and we stepped into the executive floor.

Callum looked up from the file in his hands when we entered. Flicking his wrist, he gestured to the seats opposite his desk.

“Dean said you were coming, so I made time,” he said once we were seated “What brings you back so soon?”

Honestly, when I told Dean earlier I wanted to come, my intention had been to share what I’d uncovered-Brandon’s accident cover-up,

But during the ride over, I’d had time to think.
