Chapter 63

“Yeah. I guess I needed the rest.” I pressed again. “So what happened with my social media handles?”

He sighed. “It’s like I said-they were leaked. At first, we had everything under control, but early this morning, an anonymous user posted your links on a gossip forum.'”

An anonymous user.

Likely Brandon or Claire, I thought with a sneer. I had a strong feeling it was the latter though.

“So try not to go online,” Dean continued. “Calls and texts are fine. With your background, none of those trolls will dare risk calling you directly as they fear being tracked and subsequently getting sued.”

“Okay, I understand,” I said, obedient for once.

Thankfully, I’d turned off my wifi before going to sleep last night after his earlier warning.

“Where are you now?” I asked after a pause.

“At Raven Tower.

Just as I thought.

Honestly, I had lingering doubts.

Callum’s and Raven Entertainment’s intervention in this-what was it really about?

I’d brushed it off before, chalking it up to friendship with Dean, and the chance to score brownie points in future negotiations for the exclusive rights to my works.

But watching Dean yesterday, so compelely at ease in Callum’s office, had left me uncertain. Like there was something else I was missing.

No matter how close they were, as the president of Raven Entertainment, Callum’s executive office shouldn’t be a place that Dean can just waltz in casually like that.

Yet, he did..

What’s more, he walked like he owned and belonged there.

But despite my suspicions, this wasn’t the kind of question to ask over the phone, so I let it

rest.

“I’ll be there soon,” I said instead. “But first, I need to drop by somewhere.”

“Where?” he asked, then quickly added, “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.

to.”

I laughed. “It’s no secret. You’ll find out soon enough.”

Dean was quick to catch the hint.

“You’re moving into the villa today?”

“Yes.”

“Wait for me. I’ll pick you up.” His voice was calm, but I caught a hint of another emotion beneath it.

Excitement.

My lips curved upwards, though I still declined. “No need. I can manage.”

“But the villa’s a distance from the gate. How do you plan to get there?”

“I saw golf carts in the community. I’m thinking of asking security to arrange one to take me to the villa.”

Silence.

I smiled knowingly. “Hey, why aren’t you saying anything? Could I be wrong?”

His answer came out sulky. “No. You couldn’t be more right. The golf carts can indeed take you there.”

I chuckled softly.

But his sulking didn’t last. “I already updated your name in the system and told the guards about you. You won’t have any issues.”

while.”

“Alright. I’ll be expecting you.”

When the call ended, I freshened up, then pulled out a single black suitcase. I packed what I could into it-the essentials. The rest, I planned to ask Uncle Theo to mail them to the villa later.

Dragging the suitcase behind me, I stepped into the hallway, my heart startlingly calm-no reluctance, no second thoughts.

“Where are you going with that suitcase?” Uncle Theo’s voice, warm and laced with surprise, came from the doorway.

For a fleeting moment, I considered lying. Saying I was off on a short trip.

But the words stuck in my throat. I couldn’t bring myself to deceive him.

Not him.

With a sigh, I let go of the suitcase handle and walked over to him. My arms wrapped around his solid frame in a tight, lingering hug.

“I’m leaving, Uncle Theo,” I whispered against his shoulder. “I’m moving out.”

LILITH

At my words, Uncle Theo froze in my arms.
