Chapter 66
Chapter 66
He was the largest investor in Raven Entertainment. The founder of a renowned game company. A man who made decisions on scales far beyond my imagination.
How could someone like him lose his head-and stake so much-because of a woman?
Suddenly, the air in the office felt too heavy.
My thoughts were tangled into knots, my chest too tight to breathe.
Just then, the phone on Callum’s desk buzzed, breaking through the heavy silence slowly settling over the room.
His secretary, Alicia’s polite voice came through, reminding him of his next meeting.
Right…
Relief washed over me.
Dean had mentioned a meeting earlier.
I stood up quickly, managing a polite smile. “Since you’re busy, I won’t take more of your time.”
Dean also rose to his feet. “I’ll take you back.”
His tone left no room for refusal.
And honestly, I lacked both the mood and energy to argue:
Besides, from today onward, we’d be neighbors-separated only by a wall. Not to mention the most important point-he was my landlord.
Ever seen a tenant give their landlord attitude and come out unscathed? Me neither.
So I only hesitated briefly before nodding.
As we turned to leave, Callum spoke again. Instinctively, my fingers curled together as I braced myself for yet another bombshell.

He must have noticed, because his eyes gleamed with amusement. “Relax. This time it’s not about Dean-it’s about you.”
“Me?” I asked.
“Yes. About your social handles leak. I’ve already had that anonymous post deleted, the troll accounts reported and permanently banned. And If you plan to sue, I’ve also had their information compiled.”
“We still couldn’t trace the original poster, though.”
“You’ve done more than enough,” I said sincerely.
His lips curved faintly, and he threw Dean a meaningful look. “No need to thank me. I’m just following the orders of our largest shareholder. If you really want to show gratitude, thank him properly.”
…Properly?
Why did it sound like there was something suggestive in the way he said that? Or was it just my imagination running wild?
Before I could even process it, Dean grabbed my wrist and dragged me out.
Yeah, I wasn’t overthinking.
Definitely not.
And to think-I once compared him to Julian. Julian was cold because that was who he was. Dean, on the other hand, hid mischief behind his cool façade.
No wonder he and Dean were good friends.
Birds of the same feather.

The entire ride back to the community was silent. Neither of us spoke a single word.
Not until the car neared Lilith’s villa did she finally break the stillness, her tone polite but distant.
“You can drop me off here. Thanks for the ride.”

I acted as though I hadn’t heard her and drove right past her villa.
Her brows furrowed, following which her voice rose.
“Didn’t you hear me? I said you can drop me off here.”
Only then did I answer calmly, my gaze fixed on the road.
“You can go home later. But first, we need to have a proper talk.’
For some reason, that only seemed to irritate her further.
She turned to me, defiance flashing in her eyes.
“And what if I refuse?”
By then, the car had already stopped in front of the gates of my villa.
“There are some things you need to hear from me personally, Elise,” I turned and said evenly. “Instead of from Callum-or anyone else.”
Honestly, I wasn’t thrilled about the stunt Callum had pulled earlier.
