Chapter 218 Caffeine and Cold Shoulders.

Xavier was extremely annoyed. She had zero trust in him. Did he look like the kind of guy who couldn’t stay loyal? But in the end, he swallowed the urge and said. I’m not going to argue. Let time prove it.”

With that, he grabbed his clothes and headed into the bathroom.

Becky pressed her lips together and continued patting lotion into her face. Once she finished her skincare routine, she quietly slipped into the nursery.

James was fast asleep. She sat beside the crib and watched him for a while.

After silently admiring how handsome her baby was, she gently closed the door and returned to the master bedroom. Xavier was already out of the shower, lying on the bed, taking up more than half of it.

She pursed her lips and lay down next to him.

It was still early, and she wasn’t sleepy yet. She picked up her phone, opened her novel app, and started reading.

She barely got through a few lines before her phone was snatched away.

A warm body pressed down on hers, and his lips sealed over hers.

Her wide, almondshaped eyes met Xavier’s intense gaze.

Under that fiery stare, she quickly surrendered.

Since resistance was futile, she might as well enjoy it. Becky closed her eyes and lifted her slender arms to wrap around Xavier’s neck.

Kissing was a skill and with enough practice, she’d gotten pretty damn good at it.

Xavier’s body tensed under her eager response.

But he loved it. He loved how she took the lead.

She liked taking the lead too.

The two of them didn’t fall asleep until well past 1 a.m.

Sharon and Brendon had taken a cab to a little skewer joint tucked away in a side alley. They could smell the delicious aroma wafting out the moment they stepped into the alley rich and savory, enough to make anyone’s stomach growl.

Sharon cracked her knuckles with excitement. She was ready to feast.

They found a table inside and picked a grill. Then Sharon headed off to get the ingredients. In no time, she returned with a heaping tray full of food.

Brendon smiled helplessly.

Spicy food did wonders for the appetite

it made you want to eat more and more.

Sharon’s lips were bright red from the heat. As she ate, she fanned herself and panted, So spicy, so spicy!

Brendon got up and returned with two bottles of coconut juice, sticking a straw into one of them.

Drink this.

Sharon mumbled a thankyou and took a long sip.

The juice was icecold and refreshing. It dulled the burn and let her dive back in for more.

By the time they finished, it was already midnight.

Brendon took her back to her building and only told the driver to leave once she’d safely gone inside.

Because she and Xavier had gone to bed so late, Becky couldn’t wake up the next morning.

Well

she couldn’t wake up. Xavier, on the other hand, got up like clockwork and headed off to work.

When Becky finally dragged herself into the clinic, yawning, Mr. John gave her a scolding.

Only a few days left, and you’re still showing up late every day.

Becky said nothing.

She felt guilty, and it showed.

Yulia had ended up returning to the Moore house the night before, only to be greeted by Jake’s nonstop mockery and Grace’s cold remark:

I thought you ran away. If you’re gonna run, then stay gone. What’s the point of coming back?

You think I wanted to come back?Yulia snapped. If I had somewhere else to go, I wouldn’t dream of coming back here!If you had any backbone, you wouldn’t have come back. And since you did, drop the attitude. None of us owe you anything.” Yulia said nothing and stormed upstairs.

She had arranged to meet Xavier at noon in the café near Glory Corp, and by ten o’clock she was already on her way.

She arrived at the café by eleven, ordered a cup of coffee, and took a window seat.

After a while, her phone lit up

Quincy was calling.

She glanced at it and ignored the call.

At noon, employees began trickling out of the Glory Corp building across the street. Yulia kept scanning the crowd but never spotted Xavier.

She waited another half hour.

Still no sign of him.

She started to realize he probably wasn’t coming.

But she wasn’t ready to give up. She ordered another cup of coffee and waited. Two hours passed. Still, no Xavier.

Finally, she stood and headed over to the Glory Corp building, but as soon as she reached the first floor, she was stopped at the front desk.

Ms. Yulia, you can’t go up without an appointment.

Yulia glared at the two receptionists.
