Once the young maid had disappeared into the kitchen, Clayton spoke in a low voice. "Reginald was surrounded by people—which means there are eyes and ears everywhere. We have to assume we're being watched. I know why you insisted I stay. If we're going to do this, we have to make it believable."

Alicia understood his warning. The stability of White Corporation hinged on the perception of their relationship.

"Have some more soup, brother," Alicia said with a gentle smile, ladling some into his bowl. To any onlooker, they were the picture of harmony.

In the kitchen, the young maid snapped a discreet photo of the couple laughing over their meal and sent it to Natalia. She was a plant, originally placed in the household to spy on Reginald. After his death, her focus had shifted to Clayton and Alicia, with Natalia now acting as her handler. Naturally, Natalia had instructed her to keep a close watch on them.

"To fool everyone else, you first have to fool yourself," Clayton murmured, using the serving fork to place a piece of chicken on her plate. Then, he quietly reached over and powered off her phone as well.
