Chapter 138 Leave It On

She swore she would sue whoever spread that lie about her copying.

Finished

The reporter who asked the question smiled slyly. But the version she performed wasn’t a rough draft. It was the same as tonight’s Chasing the Wind

Impossible!Lydia shot back instantly.

She didn’t even stop to think about how people outside the theater had already seen her dance in real time, compared it, and accused her of stealing.

Jasper, though, suddenly realized something.

His eyes snapped to the official theater photographer at the side of the stageright where Clarence was standing.

Clarence’s face had gone dark, his voice sharp with anger. Didn’t you say this was just for official footage? Why is it a livestream?

Normally, theaters ban audience filming. Nobody pulled out phones during a show. Even if someone had doubts, there was no way they could spread it this fast.

The only explanation was that people outside were watching a live broadcast.

Clarence had been planning to keep a lid on things, to prevent rumors from leaking. But now he discovered the entire performance had been streamed online. With that many viewers outside, of course, the reaction was immediate.

He didn’t believe Lydia really plagiarized. But art was always hard to judge. Public opinion was brutal. Enough accusations could crush anyone.

He guessed someone must have set her upuploading a fake version online just to stir up trouble.

Shut down the livestream,he ordered, frowning at the photographer as reporters kept hounding Lydia.

The photographer looked confused. My assignment was to stream it live.”

This guy in front of him looked rich but unstable. Should he really listen to him? Technically, he could stop the feed now that the show was over. But with the scandal blowing up, and without direct orders from above, he didn’t dare. His bosses had made it clear that everything tonight had to follow orders.

Besides, it wasn’t Clarence who paid his salary.

The camera stayed on Lydia and Jasper, both struggling against the flood of questions. Clarence’s face tightened.

Shut it off now, or the Lancasters pull every cent of funding tomorrow.

The Lancasters?

The same Lancasters behind Ms. Wallace?

The photographer hesitated. And then another voice cut through.

Leave it on.

Tilda walked in, still wearing her practice clothes, calm as ever.

Lydia’s the company’s lead dancer. If she doesn’t clear this up right away, the whole troupe takes the hit. Mr. Clarence, if you really trust Lydia, then what are you afraid of? With this many cameras, one more livestream won’t make a difference.

Clarence’s gaze locked on her face. A thought flickered through his mind, but things were moving too fast for him to sort it out.

The photographer didn’t know Clarence. But he knew Tilda.

She was the troupe’s rising star, the one management was pushing after Lydia.
