Shattered Rose He Held On Light
Chapter 181 Deal With Her
“Hey, Sterling, still breathing in there?”
David’s joking tone died fast the moment he saw what was inside.
A second later, he slammed the door shut with a loud bang.
“Damn it! That sneaky Clint totally set me up!”
He started pacing the hallway, scratching at his messy hair angrily.

No wonder Clint had stopped at the door earlier. He’d basically tossed David in to play the villain and disturb the couple’s moment.
Thinking about what he’d just walked in on, David grumbled. Sterling was unbelievable. He couldn’t even behave while bleeding. Honestly, he should be chained.
Claudia, snapping out of her haze, spotted hope. She used Sterling’s chest to steady herself, then hurried to the door with her lips still red and flung it wide.
“Dr. Dune!”
Her voice carried a mix of shock and relief, like she’d found a hero.
David cleared his throat, switching in a flash from cranky to smooth.
“Uh, Ms. Lancaster, mind if I step in?” He gestured at his medical kit.
David doubted Sterling’s wounds were that serious. Sterling was tough, but he still needed the antidote fast.
Sterling had kept himself from losing control and even drained his own blood at just the right moment. That was pure skill. Anyone else would’ve been a goner.
Claudia moved aside and nodded. “Come in.”
She also flicked on the lights.
Inside, Sterling was already lying on the bed, cold and unreadable, like he hadn’t just been clinging to her a minute ago.
David smirked, ignoring Sterling’s death glare.
“Looks fine to me. What, Paula didn’t buy fake meds, did she?”

The sarcasm dripped off his tongue.
Sterling brushed it off, but Claudia took it seriously, frowning with worry.
“Will it hurt him?”
Sterling shot David a deadly glare.
David surrendered instantly. “Alright, alright. Just kidding. It’s the real deal.”
Then, it hit him. The real deal wasn’t exactly great news either. Crap.

He bit his tongue and straightened. “Don’t worry. Real or fake, he’ll be fine after one shot.”
Back when they were overseas, Sterling got shot and poisoned so often that David had practically mastered the antidote skills.
Claudia was the only one innocent enough to believe Sterling’s fake, pitiful act. He was a total schemer.
Grumbling under his breath, David jabbed the needle into Sterling’s arm without holding back.
When he was finally done complaining, he left, and Sterling walked Claudia back to her room so she could rest before dinner.
Afraid she might still be shaken, he stayed close even after she’d taken her shower.
