Chapter 182 Leave Them Out of It
“I truly underestimated you.”
Paula gave a dry, bitter laugh at the man across from her.
She had thought he was just another obstacle she could conquer, so she got arrogant.

But she didn’t regret it. Anything was better than those days Sterling had crafted for her–days that felt worse than dying.
He never answered. His eyes stayed locked on the surveillance feed in front of him, completely ignoring Paula’s confessions or pleas.
The footage showed the bamboo garden–not the side building, but the exact moment Claudia stormed in.
Hearing her speak up for him so fiercely and seeing that blaze in her eyes, Sterling let out a small laugh.
That spark in his chest, shooting up to his head, almost matched the thrill of kissing her earlier.
When Claudia hovered that shard of glass an inch above Paula’s eye and demanded to know where he was, Sterling’s eyes burned with something wild.
He knew they were the same kind of people.
To him, Claudia was like the missing rib destiny had carved out for him.
She was the only rose on his empty planet.
For once, the cold expression on his face actually melted into a smile. “Clint, make a copy of that video for me.”
His voice couldn’t hide his excitement.
“It’s already in your inbox, Mr. Romero.”
Clint answered with a quiet smile, proud of himself.
Sterling gave him a satisfied look. “Pick up a triple bonus tomorrow.”
Clint tried not to grin. “Got it.”
Paula finally realized her endless talking hadn’t been heard at all.

Sterling kept his eyes on the video until Claudia disappeared. Then, as if finally granting her a moment, he turned to Paula.
“So, Aunt Paula, you think it’s just you. That even if you die, it ends there?”
Her chest tightened, her voice rough. “What do you mean by that?”
Sterling leaned back, fingers interlocked loosely. “Claudia was right. You’re furious, but you’re always stabbing at the weak, never hitting the real enemy.”
He smiled. “Don’t worry. I’ll aim for you.”
She lunged forward, but someone yanked her down hard.
Paula’s voice cracked with fear. “What are you going to do?”
