Shattered Rose He Held On Tight
Chapter 190 Same Kind of Madness
#Finished
This whole messed–up family of monsters deserved to drag each other straight to the grave.
Claudia heard the entire call but didn’t bother asking Sterling how Paula died.
In truth, when he’d gone to the kitchen that morning, she had secretly checked her phone and already seen the news.
She knew that car was meant for her.
And whenever she thought about that creepy side building in Bamboo Garden, she felt those people got exactly what they deserved.
So what if outsiders called Sterling ruthless and heartless? They hadn’t lived through the hell he had.
That’s why Paula tried to tell Claudia how cruel Sterling was–to turn her against him—but her logic had been wrong from the start.
Claudia would never fear him or run away. She’d be the one handing him the knife.
At their core, they were both cut from the same kind of madness.
By the third day, Claudia was back to full energy. Sterling, just to keep up appearances, took her to the hospital to visit Donovan.
When Donovan saw Sterling finally show up, hand in hand with Claudia, he was ready to toss out a few sarcastic remarks–but he swallowed them back.
He already knew what had happened to Paula, and even the funeral date was set.
Her family, once informed, flatly rejected the Romeros‘ invitation. They said they’d rather pretend Paula was already dead way earlier. Their tone bitter and full of blame, as if she had dragged them all down with her.
Donovan could only sigh. Karma always came back around.
Letting out a long breath, he said, “I want Waylon and his wife to bring Freddie home that day. What do you think?”
Sterling lazily played with Claudia’s fingers and smirked. “What do I think? I’ll just stand and
watch.”
Donovan’s face darkened, but before he could scold him, Sterling added softly, “Grandpa, are you really so old you can’t make a decision like that on your own anymore?”

Donovan stared at him for a long time, then exhaled and waved him off. “Fine. There’s nothing more for you here. Go on after this. I’ll be out of the hospital by the funeral.”
Sterling didn’t argue. He stood up with Claudia. “Take care of yourself, Grandpa. We’ll get going.”
Donovan closed his eyes, too annoyed to look at them any longer.
Get lost.
If they stayed another minute, he’d probably have a stroke
After they left, Nelson, who’d been looking after Donovan, asked carefully, “Weren’t you planning to talk to Mr. Sterling about what to do with her?
Donovan shook his head.
“Him staying out of it is already the best thing for Waylon’s family.”
Waylon should count himself lucky. Their family pulled out early and avoided the bloodbath that followed.
Sterling didn’t think much of Waylon, but at least they had no grudge between them and Sterling wasn’t the type to make trouble without cause.
Letting Donovan decide meant he wouldn’t interfere in their family mess.
And honestly, the inheritance everyone was fighting tooth and nail over–those so–called treasures in Donovan’s hands—meant nothing to Sterling.
Sterling’s ambition and vision were far beyond the rest of them.
What a shame.
