Shattered Rose He Held On Tight

Chapter 189 You’re Gross

Sterling gave David a sharp, cold look.

After a while, David stood fuming at the front gate. He’d stayed up half the night chasing after drama and didn’t even get a bowl of congee out of it. Now he was just dumped at the door like

trash.

Sterling just used him and then tossed him aside!

David felt that Sterling was indifferent.

Then, noise came from inside.

His face lit up. Hah, I knew you weren’t-

Daron, holding a bouquet in his mouth, slipped through the gap in the door and shot David a puzzled look. It was as if he was saying, Why is this dumb twolegged creature still hanging around? Then, without another glance, he trotted off, tugging the flowers toward the trash can.

David was speechless.

Inside, Sterling expressionlessly bent down and picked up a card Daron had dropped.

The big shiny words Sorryand I Love Youburned his eyes. He tossed it into the stove, watching the paper curl and blacken until nothing was left.

When Claudia woke up, the whole place looked like it had been turned into a flower shop.

She bent over to smell the roses on the dining table, then shot Sterling a puzzled look as he brought her a bowl of congee. Why so many flowers? And where’s Dr. Dune?

Sterling acted calm, like it was no big deal. Nothing special. Flowers help when you’re sick. He was busy, so he left early.

Claudia rubbed her chin, eyeing him suspiciously. Since when are you this considerate?

Sterling lifted her from where she was leaning over the bouquet and set her neatly in front of the steaming bowl.

When have I ever treated you badly? His eyebrow arched.

From the start, he’d always been the generous type, throwing money around without blinking. Of course, he’d spoiled her.

Claudia grinned, wrapping her arms around his neck. Just hinting that you could always spoil

Sterling pinched her cheek, the fever gone from her skin. So, trying to trick me?

Her face felt so tender that he couldn’t resist giving it a slightly firmer squeeze.

Claudia spun and bit his hand between the thumb and finger, catlike and fierce. Well? Are you giving in or not?

He hissed, yanking his hand back.

It hadn’t hurt a bit, just like his pinch hadn’t hurt her, but he still acted like she had won. Fine, fine. I’ll step right into your trap, get fooled, burn in the fire, whatever you want.

Happy with herself, Claudia leaned back and ordered him around like she owned the place. My mouth feels dirty. I need to rinse.

Sterling’s grin turned wicked. So now I disgust you?

She fired back, Nope, just staying true to my cleanfreak act.

He snorted. “I didn’t hear you complain when we kissed.”

That was you, not me! And biting your hand isn’t the same as kissing your mouth, okay?

Sterling gave her a deep, unreadable look.

Seeing that spark in his eyes, Claudia quickly covered her lips with her hand. Ew, gross. Don’t even think about it.

Her protest didn’t work. Just when she thought she was on the mend, she teased him and ended up losing.

Later, her lips were swollen and red. She ate her congee in silence for a good half hour, refusing to look at him.

Today, Sterling had already decided to stay home and look after her.
