Chapter 194 I’m Jealous
“Oh no, someone call an ambulance. He just vomited blood!”
“Hurry, get the unconscious patient onto the stretcher!”
“He’s still so young. What could have upset him so much?”

All the voices and gossip drifted by Claudia’s cars. She glanced back, but it was only for a second.
Jasper’s figure soon disappeared into the crowd. Claudia glanced back like a detached bystander, distant and uninterested.
People can be strange sometimes. Jasper acted like he loved her so much, even claiming a child that wasn’t his, but when all she ever needed was for him to choose her over Lydia, he could never do it.
There was no point in trying to understand people who made no sense to her.
She soon pushed the chance encounter with her ex out of her mind and turned to tease Sterling.
“Where are the hyacinths sent by Jasper?”
Because she had said earlier, “There’s no place in our home for anything from a third party,” Sterling felt completely confident that, as her boyfriend, he had all of her heart.
He answered confidently, “I told Daron to throw them out.”
Claudia shook her head, her voice light and playful. “Some people might seem like a mature CEO on the outside, but they can’t even handle a single bouquet of flowers.”
Sterling grinned, giving her hand a squeeze. “Yeah, I’m jealous.”
“Claudia, you’re not allowed to accept flowers from other men. Got it?” he said in a feigned fierce tone.
“Mr. Romero, haven’t you heard? No one likes a man who’s too controlling.”
Sterling thought for a second.
“Well, then you’ll just have to put up with me for the rest of your life.”

“So bossy.” She pretended to be surprised, then wrapped her arms around his as if she had no choice, giggling, “Alright, I agree.”
Sterling’s smile just kept growing.
Paula’s funeral was kept very simple.
With Henry and Paula out of power, all the influence and connections they had quickly fell apart. The circle of people who once flocked around them scattered in no time.
Aside from a few distant relatives, the Romeros barely invited anyone else.
Sterling only made a few polite greetings to some relatives and then stuck close to Claudia the whole time.
The guests all noticed how Claudia walked in shoulder to shoulder with Sterling, openly attending the funeral as his partner. They all thought, She’s really about to become the next matriarch of the Romeros.
Fate worked in strange ways. Who would have thought that the least–favored daughter of the Lancasters would one day marry into the Romeros, the most powerful family around?
By now, Sterling was doting on her in every possible way. It seemed like their wedding could happen at any moment.
No one knew if Wilson and his wife regretted things now, but rumors were that their lives had gotten tough lately.
Everyone’s feelings were mixed, but nobody could deny Claudia’s rising status.
Some people even snuck glances at the expressions of the wives of the other Romeros‘ sons.
Leon’s wife, Yvonne, seemed as calm as ever, graciously greeting guests and minding her own
business.
Quinton’s wife, Winnie–Sterling’s stepmother–looked uncomfortable the entire time, watching Sterling and Claudia get all the attention. She huddled with her maiden family members, whispering in low voices.
Kenneth’s wife, Clarissa, kept an unusually low profile. Even her two children, who were usually rowdy, stayed silent.
As for Donovan’s youngest son, Jackson, and his wife, Dahlia, they were their usual charming selves, chatting and laughing with relatives around Donovan.
