Chapter 210 Final Decision
The one who objected the loudest was Hailey.

“Dad, how could you do this? I’ve been asking for that jewelry company for years, and you never agreed! And Waylon–he betrayed the family for some woman and made such a huge mistake. He’s a sinner! Why should he get to come back?”
“Enough!” Donovan slammed his cane on the floor, his eyes narrowing sharply at her.
“That’s my property. I’ll divide it however I want. You don’t have a say.”
Hailey refused to back down. “Fine, give it to anyone else, but him? That’s basically giving it to Fiona! Doesn’t that mean Leon died for nothing?”
She deliberately ignored Freddie’s existence.
“Hailey!” Yvonne, who had been silent until now, suddenly stood up. “Watch
Hailey flinched but still looked unconvinced.
“Leon? Are we really still talking about Leon?”
your words!”
Donovan let out a cold laugh. His cloudy old eyes swept across the room–sharp enough to see through every mask.
Everyone instinctively sat up straighter.
He looked over at Sterling and Claudia, calm as ever, and then at Waylon and Freddie, who stayed quiet. A hint of sorrow flickered in his gaze.
“Leon’s death was on all of you,” he said slowly. “Can any of you honestly say your conscience is clear?”
Back then, Fiona had been the only one blamed. But Donovan knew the truth went much deeper.
“You were all ruthless back then,” he said bitterly. “So don’t act righteous now. Don’t think I don’t know what you’re all thinking.”
Old grudges ran too deep to ever be untangled.
Compared to the rest of the Romero siblings who lived in comfort, Waylon’s family had stayed away for nearly 30 years, never touching a single cent of the Romero fortune. That alone was atonement enough.

Leaning on his cane, Donovan’s voice turned icy. “My decision is final. If you don’t like it, you can hand over what you’ve got too.”
No one dared to argue further.
A faint chill crept into the room–almost as if Donovan really did know something.
From the side, Fiona watched the chaos unfold and let out a soft, mocking laugh.
She didn’t care to fight for it, but she also had no reason to refuse what Donovan
gave
her.
Even if Freddie chose to donate it to charity, it was still better than letting these heartless people get a share.
Freddie, sitting under the glare of everyone’s jealousy, looked calm.
It was his first time caught in the storm of a powerful family, but he felt oddly detached.
This wasn’t a place where a free spirit like him could ever belong.
His gaze
flicked toward Sterling and Claudia–their hands still clasped, her lips still swollen. Then he quietly looked away.
That night, after the tense family meeting finally ended, Freddie didn’t stay.
As he walked out of Romero Manor, his car crossed paths with Sterling’s–Claudia sitting beside him–and they drove off in opposite directions.
Freddie glanced in the rearview mirror, watching their car shrink into the distance. His phone buzzed with a new message.
Funding for the Loscoqua Project had just been cut in half. The research timeline was extended indefinitely.
He let out a soft laugh. “That person really doesn’t hold back, huh… ”
From the back seat, Fiona tapped the back of his chair gently.
Freddie’s smile faded as he refocused on the road ahead.
The car sped into the night, never looking back.
