When Florence heard the sponsor was coming, she even arranged for everyone to run a preview of the new stage performance.

From the side, Sterling watched Claudia move around the rehearsal floor–adjusting dance steps, guiding expressions, stopping to think, then arguing animatedly with Andrea and a few others, her hands flying as she spoke. Secing her so full of life, he smiled.
It looked like what happened with Zoey hadn’t shaken her too badly after all.
He picked up her water bottle, planning to hand it to her when he suddenly felt someone’s eyes on him.
Ryan. Ever since finding out Claudia already had a fiancé, Ryan had been a mess. But he never expected to meet the man so soon–the one everyone talked about.
He sized Sterling up quietly.
Height–about the same. Face–yeah, even by global standards, the guy was annoyingly good- looking.
Build–solid, powerful, not the frail office type he’d imagined.
Money? If Ryan sold everything his family owned, it probably wouldn’t even match a fraction of what this man had.
The realization shattered what was left of his pride.
Turns out, everything Tilda said was true.
Still, he tried to find some kind of crack between the two–some sign that maybe things weren’t perfect.
But damn it. There wasn’t one!
He could only admit it–they looked made for each other.
His blue eyes went glassy.
From the moment Sterling walked in, his gaze never left Claudia. And even in the middle of her chaos–giving orders, rehearsing steps–she kept looking for him too, sending him little smiles whenever their eyes met.
All the admiring looks from other dancers, guys and girls alike, went completely unnoticed by both of them.

Ryan had lost–completely, hopelessly lost.
Sob, sob, sob…
The two male dancers beside him gave him a few sympathetic pats on the shoulder, sighing.
They’d thought Ryan was already the best of the best. But after seeing Claudia’s fiancé, they finally understood what it meant when people said, “There’s always someone better out there.”
Claudia was holding props in both hands when Sterling stopped her to give her some water.
Her hands hung helplessly at her sides as she tilted her head back, looking up at him. He held the big bottle for her, pressing the straw to her lips. Her cheeks puffed slightly as she drank, like a tiny hamster trying its best to soak up every drop–so ridiculously cute it made his chest ache.
Sterling waited for her to take a big gulp, then paused to let her breathe before offering more.
When she finally finished, he reached out and wiped away the bit of water that had spilled at the corner of her mouth.
And then–he couldn’t help himself.
He leaned down and kissed her hard.
Claudia gasped, eyes wide, quickly glancing around.
Luckily, everyone else was still busy working.
She gave his chest a light smack, half–annoyed, half–shy. “What was that for?”
Sterling caught a glimpse, out of the corner of his eye, of Ryan slinking off with his head down. A small grin tugged at his lips. “Nothing. You’re just too cute for your own good.”
He sighed. “I don’t want to leave.”
Hearing that, Claudia’s heart softened. He’d be gone in two hours, and she hated the thought of
it too.
She pouted, then leaned in for a quick hug when no one was looking. “Don’t be sad. I’ll be back before you know it.”
