Chapter 257 Sound of Kisses

As soon as the car door closed, the driver raised the divider and drove straight toward the airport, keeping his eyes ahead.
In the quiet back seat, Claudia sat close to Sterling, her arms wrapped around his neck. His hands rested firmly at her waist–neither of them wanted to let go.
In the privacy of the car, the soft sound of their kisses filled the air.
Sterling pulled her closer, breathing hard against her neck. “Baby, can you come home soon?”
He spoke again, almost dreamily, “I’ll buy your ticket right now. Let’s just go home together.”
Then he chuckled, voice low and rough. “If only you could shrink down so I could tuck you in my suitcase.
“Mwah! Mwah, mwah!”
He kissed her again and again, his lips pressed to her soft cheeks and warm, glossy mouth, unable to let go. He nipped at her gently, like he just couldn’t get enough.
Claudia tugged on his lower lip with her teeth, just as reluctant to part. “You better miss me when you’re home,” she murmured. “And don’t forget our sleep call tomorrow night.”
She kissed his cheek again and said softly, “Work is important, but don’t stay up too late. I’ll be watching you.”
Sterling traced her brows and eyes with a soft, loving look. “I’ll listen to whatever you say, Baby.”
He kissed her hand and said, “If you have nightmares, call me. Don’t worry about anything back home; I’ll take care of it.”
“Sterling.” She pouted, lips curving up again. “Kiss me.”
He let out a low laugh and kissed her deeply.
The car had been parked at the airport for a long time. The driver had already stepped out, leaving the two in the back seat tangled together until they finally forced themselves to part- mostly because Sterling was going to be way too messed up to be seen by anyone soon.
At the gate, Claudia’s eyes were red. She gave him one last hug and whispered, “Wait for me to
come home.”
Sterling’s chest tightened. He kissed her forehead softly. “I’ll wait.”

At the Lancaster Residence
Clarence came home exhausted, only to find a bunch of workers walking in and out of the
house.
He frowned and called out to a maid, “What’s going on here?”
The maid answered carefully, “Mrs. Lancaster said she wants to redo Ms. Claudia’s room.”
Ever since Lydia suddenly “left the country,” the whole house had felt heavy.
Wilson and Clarence were both buried in work, looking worse by the day. Zane had even moved into an apartment near school and barely came home anymore. After Lottie fell seriously ill, she hadn’t been the same–always distracted, always crying.
Even the servants moved and spoke like they were walking on glass.
Clarence rubbed his temple in frustration and waved her off. “You can go.”
He glanced toward the stairs, took a deep breath, and headed up.
