Claudia looked at the exhausted Lydia and smiled. “It’s been a while.”
Lydia’s eyes burned with hatred. “You came here to laugh at me?”
She was certain that Claudia had broken her leg.
Everyone else thought it was some accident caused by her acting like a spoiled rich girl in prison. But Lydia, as the one who went through it, knew the truth–every strike had been aimed at her leg.
No matter how much she raged, no one would believe her.
And the only person with both the motive and the ability to do it? Claudia.
Because Claudia had ruined Lydia’s ability to dance, she had come back to get revenge.
Claudia followed Lydia’s tense expression down to her left foot.
Back when she had made the deal with Mandy, she hadn’t asked for the benefits the Lancasters or Jasper could offer. She had asked only that Lydia go to prison and lose the ability to dance.
Mandy was efficient–everything left no trace.
Now Lydia couldn’t dance, and even walking quickly left her limping.
That was why she hadn’t lunged at Claudia the moment she saw her–she refused to show her enemy her weaknesses.
Claudia nodded. “After all these busy years, ending up like this… yeah, you really are kind of pathetic.”
Lydia’s eyes reddened. “If it weren’t for you, how would I have ended up like this? And you— coming here to flaunt it in front of me–do you even care about my mother, who died because of you? She treated you so well back then… and you don’t even have the face to meet her now!”
She seethed, hoping to see familiar shame or guilt in Claudia’s expression.
But Claudia only said calmly, “She did treat me well… she even bet the last seven or eight months of her life on me, just to make a path for you.”
Lydia’s face turned white. “What … what are you talking about?!”
How could she possibly know?

Chapter 264 A Threat
Had anyone else found out, too?
Panic surged through Lydia’s chest.

This was the deepest secret between her and her mother–something that should never, ever be discovered in their lifetimes.
But Claudia’s words clearly hinted that she had figured it out.
Claudia smiled. “Don’t get so worked up. I haven’t told anyone else yet. I came today… just to give you a little gift.”
The driver stepped out of the car and handed Lydia several photos.
Seeing the cancer diagnosis, the signed statements from the driver’s family at the time, and the trade records… Lydia’s pupils constricted.
Claudia watched her trembling hands and smiled. “You’re not done yet. Want to keep looking?”
Lydia pressed her lips together. When she reached the last photo–a man tied up, bruised, and beaten–her face went completely pale. The photos slipped from her hands and scattered across the floor.
She was done for.
If it had only been Zoey’s case, she might have tried to plead ignorance because she was young. But Preston’s death–and resurrection–clearly crushed any excuse.
