Chapter 267 Donated
Weren’t they the ones who had coddled her, praised her, and held her up

all this time?
Lydia thought of Claudia’s smile before she left, and a chill ran through her.
They said she had to cling to the Lancasters–but they never promised to help her.
Now it seemed that sprinkling a little “extra drama” on their shaky family bonds was just her own dark little joke.
This time it’s jail. Next time… what else?
Her plate tipped over, spilling her food. Without thinking, she jumped to her feet.
No. She couldn’t stay passive.
If the Lancasters were doomed, she had to secure more leverage for herself before it fell apart.
The maid, carrying newly prepared dishes from the kitchen, froze at the sight of the empty chairs. Then, realizing something, she glanced nervously at the scowling Lydia.
Oh… so Ms. Lydia isn’t going abroad but is going to jail?
They’d been hiding in the kitchen earlier, but they’d heard plenty.
Not only were there photos online of Lydia being released, but all her past dirt had been dug
up too.
Some people even compared her to Tilda, who was rehearsing a new dance performance across the ocean, mocking her with, “You have to walk the right path. You can’t fake real skill.”
SLAP-
A harsh smack landed on the maid’s face.
Lydia couldn’t stand some lowly servant judging her like that.
“Get out!”
The maid clutched her face and ran.
Tch! Acting all high and mighty! She’s always a fake, taking over someone else’s place. Now she’d even been to jail–let’s see how proud she could stay after that.
Lottie was startled by her sudden outburst. She opened her mouth to say something, then

sighed.
She patted her hand. “Don’t worry. Your dad and Clarence will figure something out.”
Lydia buried her face in Lottie’s shoulder, crying. “Mom, I can’t take this anymore. Even a servant dares to look at me like that. I can’t stay in this house.”
inished
She clutched her chest, breathing hard, trying to sound like she was thinking of the family. “Dad and Clarence are probably furious too. I think … I should go stay somewhere else for a while. Mom, can I stay in your place at the Regency Court Manor?”
Her own apartment had been sold off at a low price after Claudia tricked her at the auction, leaving her with nothing.
She still had two other units, but the locations were terrible.
Lydia genuinely didn’t want to stay at home, and yes, she wanted to grab a little advantage while she could.
But Lottie, who had comforted her just moments ago, now looked hesitant and conflicted.
“Mom?”
Seeing her stay silent, Lydia forced a tearful smile. “It’s fine. I can go to my apartment in Westside too… though if I stay there, it’ll be harder to come home.”
“Don’t!” Lottie stopped her.
Before she could feel relieved, she added, voice firm, “Your house, your jewelry, everything- you donated it all. There’s no place for you to stay there anymore.”
“What?!” She screamed.
Then it hit her. All those documents she’d signed in prison …
The Lancasters had been scrambling to keep her out of jail, and every day she had to sign a stack of legal papers with the lawyer. Her mood had been awful, and she hadn’t read them carefully.
