Chapter 344 Who’s Really to Blame?
After what happened, even if Claudia and Sterling broke up one day, she and Jasper could never go back to what they were.
She hated Lydia too much, so she would never want a man tainted by her.
Jasper’s eyes were sharp as knives, filled with disgust he had never felt before.
Lydia, long past her initial panic, gave a careless laugh. “What are you mad about? Didn’t you hear? There were kidnappers on the yacht tonight. If I hadn’t locked the door from the outside, you might’ve been taken already. You really think your dad would still pay a ransom for you now?”
“I’d rather die,” Jasper said coldly.
Her face darkened for a moment before she smirked again. “But you didn’t. You’re still alive. And you slept with me.”
She knew exactly what hurt him most. Her tone was equal parts bitter and mocking. “Jasper, Claudia saw everything. She saw you craving me—saw you crawling to me like a dog begging for affection. In her eyes now, you’re filthy. You think she sees a difference between you me? The moment you let me close, you became her enemy.”

Watching the life drain from his expression, she still was not satisfied. “If you hate me so much, why couldn’t you just throw me out? You say you don’t want to see me, but you never stop me from coming back. Do you know why I managed to get in tonight? Because you opened the door for me. Back in the infirmary, the doctor had given them some basic meds in case of infection after they had fallen into the water.
She bribed a waiter to swap the pills–what was meant for Preston’s memorial toast ended up in Jasper’s glass of water.
Once she figured the drug had taken effect, she knocked on his door, pretending her medicine was missing and she could not find the doctor. She asked to borrow his.
Half–conscious, Jasper pulled her inside. At first, he tried to leave, but the door would not open. Then, as Lydia began taking off her clothes, he could only watch helplessly as he sank deeper into her trap.

Jasper bent forward, covering his face with his hands, tears of regret slipping through his fingers.
When he finally looked at her again, his eyes were burning with hatred. “You planned all this. What do you want from me? Just to humiliate me in front of Claudia?”
Lydia smiled faintly. “I didn’t expect Claudia to show up, honestly. I’m not the type who enjoys being watched.”
She stared at his humiliated face, finally revealing what she really wanted.
Then, her voice turned cold. “What I want, Jasper, is for you to marry me.”
“Never!” he exploded.
