He didn’t love the idea of making his wife look gorgeous just so she could go see another guy. It made him a little jealous.
He dragged it out on purpose, even messing up a few strands.
“Ugh, seriously? You ruined it again!” Claudia huffed.
It was already the fourth time this morning. Sterling was hopeless.
“Forget it,” she said, fixing her brows and running her hands through the waves left from the braids. “I’ll just wear it down.”
She turned and asked, “How’s it look?”
“Beautiful.” Sterling pulled her close, lips brushing hers. “Can’t you just stay home?”
His kisses smudged her lipstick, his breath warm against her ear. His voice was low and teasing. “I’ll skip work too. Let’s have some fun instead.”
Claudia pushed at his chest, shaking her head fast. “No way.”
If she gave in, she probably wouldn’t leave the house for days.
When she’d gone indoor climbing with Whitney last time, her legs gave out halfway, and she nearly fell. Whitney had teased her about it nonstop.
To avoid another round of teasing, she had only let him fool around once the night before.
Still, Sterling didn’t want to give up. His hand slipped under her shirt, fingertips brushing her skin. He made her voice tremble.
“Isn’t it more fun with me? I picked up a few new tricks,” he murmured.
Claudia caught his hand and kissed him quickly. “Behave. I’ll be back early.”
Seeing how jealous he was, she kissed him again, leaving lipstick all over his face. Laughing, she said, “Whitney has been swamped forever. She finally has a day off and just wants to hang out. Let her enjoy it. She’ll be working again soon, and I’ll be home more.”
She knew he’d wait anyway. No matter how late, she always came home. They were practically

together every day.

Sterling gave up and buried his face in her neck, stealing a few more kisses.
“Fine, guess you love her more than me,” he grumbled.
Claudia laughed. He was indeed the jealous type.
She leaned close, cheeks pink, and whispered something in his ear.
His eyes lit up. “Seriously?”
She nodded. “Yup.”
That finally made him smile. “Then I’ll wait for you.”
She pinched his cheeks playfully. “Can you take the dog out by yourself today?”
Sterling nodded obediently.

“And don’t ‘accidentally‘ lose something just to make me come back. And don’t let anyone disturb Whitney to make her leave early.”
Sterling scratched his nose, looking guilty.
After way too many goodbyes, he kissed her one last time. “Have fun.”
Claudia kissed him back. “Go work hard.”
Whitney, stuck as the third wheel, covered her eyes and groaned, “Ugh, seriously? I haven’t even had breakfast yet, and I’m already full.”
Sterling smiled. “Maybe eat before you invite her out next time.”
Whitney snorted, grabbing Claudia’s arm. “Meeting at six is perfect. I’m both an early bird and a night owl.”
