Chapter 80 Where’s He?
Wilson didn’t see that coming. He’d been on high alert, expecting Claudia to cause some kind of scene. But she did nothing. Instead, the groom–to–be had vanished!
Wilson had just wrapped up his speech, ready to share some big news and signal for the two kids to join him. But when he looked over, only Claudia was there. She stood with her arms crossed, eyes wide, clearly enjoying the show.
Lottie was nearby with Clarence, both looking confused and annoyed.
On the other side, Tybalt and Sylvia were frowning as well, while a maid hurriedly whispered something to them.
The star of the night, Jasper, who had been right there a moment ago, had suddenly disappeared!
Wilson’s heart sank.
Thinking back to Claudia’s earlier warning, he had originally assumed she was just being sarcastic. But after scanning the room, he realized Jasper wasn’t the only one missing. Lydia had also slipped away, though it was harder to notice.
His head started throbbing.
Damn it, what did that troublemaker do this time?!
Some guests who knew about the Lancaster–Fenton arrangements quickly caught on to Jasper’s absence, and whispers began to spread.
The stage was set, but it looked like the groom had skipped town.
Those who didn’t know the situation were puzzled. “Didn’t Mr. Lancaster say he had news? Why isn’t he saying anything?”
The crowd grew restless.
A few rich scions huddled and whispered, “I heard Jasper bailed on the proposal last time. Is he doing it again?”
“No way. I thought those two were close? He didn’t seem unwilling earlier–he even handed Claudia a cupcake.”
“I heard they’re breaking up.”
“Really? What happened?”

Chapter 80 Where’s He?
19) Finished
“Claudia gets super jealous, always arguing with Jasper about Lydia. She thinks something is going on between them.”
Someone looked uncertain. “But they seem pretty flirty. I’ve seen Jasper argue with Claudia just to defend Lydia. Once, he even shoved Claudia out of the way to protect Lydia from danger.”
“Seriously? Anyone would lose it over that.”
“Stop spreading nonsense!” The one who accused Claudia of being jealous stepped forward angrily. “Lydia and Jasper aren’t like that. He just hates how Claudia bullies Lydia and steps in to
teach her a lesson.
“You don’t even know how nasty Claudia can be. Lydia’s mom literally saved her life, and she never shows gratitude.”
“But Lydia’s life in the Lancaster family is way better than Claudia’s. Back in school, hardly anyone knew Claudia was an heiress. People even made fun of her for being poor.”
“She’s a drama queen, always playing the victim. Look at this party–it’s pretty fancy now. It doesn’t look like she’s suffering.”
“Still, Lydia seems like a good person. Probably just a misunderstanding.”
