To anyone who didn’t know what was happening, it looked like a full–on scandal between the two families.
The groom–to–be had kissed his future sister–in–law? People could twist that any way they wanted. Gossip spread fast.
Even the ones who usually supported Lydia and Jasper were quiet.
Sure, they thought those two were a better match. But Claudia was officially Jasper’s girlfriend, and they’d been together for years.
When they saw their favorite couple get together, it should’ve been sweet. But instead, it felt like something stuck in their throat.
Something didn’t sit right.
The guy who’d sworn nothing shady was going on felt totally embarrassed.
He’d been running around like an idiot. Then, the two who were being discussed appeared and smacked him with the truth.
Of course, he didn’t blame Lydia. He just blamed himself for not checking the facts and muttered about Jasper being two–timed.
He even wondered if Claudia was holding a grudge and had planned the whole thing to embarrass those two.
The chatter was getting out of h
and and going in a ridiculous direction. Wilson and Tybalt realized they couldn’t wait any longer.
There were tons of unanswered questions. Why had Lydia suddenly had an episode? Who triggered it?
Why were they together behind the villa? How did a memory video turn into a secret livestream?
Who was pulling the strings behind that? What did they want?
But there wasn’t time to figure that out. Damage control had to come first.
Earlier, Jasper hadn’t shown up, and Claudia hadn’t gone on stage.
They’d only mentioned the engagement without saying who was getting married.

Chapter 83 Something Is Off
Right now, the smartest move was to roll with it and make Lydia the bride.

They had seen big scenes. With a few words, they managed to spin the sneaking–around scene into a cute little romantic adventure.
They even scolded the kids for being clueless and too caught up in dating to notice the important stuff.
Everyone knew about the bride swap.
But in this circle, nothing was off–limits. If the story was spun well enough, no one could call it out, and they’d still have to cooperate in the future.
Soon, congratulations and laughter were flying around. Everyone acted like the whole mess never happened.
The situation flipped back and forth, yet no one asked the obvious question. If the engagement was always meant for those two, why was there a secret video in the first place?
Of course, there was always someone who couldn’t stand a happy ending.
A girl in a black dress with long, wavy hair spoke up softly but clearly enough for everyone to hear, “But I heard that Mr. Fenton was dating Ms. Claudia.”
She looked genuinely puzzled, but Claudia saw the mischief sparkling in her eyes.
Claudia recognized Irene Harrison.
Irene had chased after Jasper for ages and only gave up once Claudia and Jasper officially got together.
Because of all that, she didn’t like Claudia, whom Jasper was into, or Lydia, who always acted all innocent around him.
Now, it seemed like she even hated Jasper.
