The Lancasters instantly felt something was very wrong.

Lottie caught sight of the young man dangling from the window and saw Lydia inside, disheveled and pale as death. She let out a sharp scream and rushed frantically into the building.

Wilson and Clarence reacted on the spot, deciding to send the guests away.

“Everyone, thank you for attending tonight’s party. Something has come up, so we won’t hold you guys back any further.”

No one knew exactly what had happened upstairs, but one thing was certain–it mustn’t be leaked.

Since the hosts were openly ushering people out, even the nosiest guests couldn’t stick around, though they were dying to know what had happened.

Tonight’s gossip had already left them stuffed.

The Fentons, too, had witnessed the shocking scene. Their hearts sank with disgust, and their dissatisfaction with the Lancasters reached a boiling point.

out.

But then, in the next moment of chaos, the pitch–black sky suddenly blossomed with enormous fireworks.

Brilliant colors and dazzling shapes filled the heavens, painting the entire venue in light and wonder. Guests couldn’t tear their eyes away from the breathtaking spectacle.

And under the cascade of sparks, a tall figure strode through the night with calm, steady steps. His voice was deep and magnetic–lazy yet commanding as he spoke, “The birthday party isn’t over yet. Who said you could all leave?”

“Hiss-”

Someone in the crowd drew in a sharp breath.

The younger ones gawked at his striking looks and arrogant tone. But the heads of families and heirs in attendance recognized him instantly.

Although everyone assumed Sterling had come to celebrate, Wilson, whose mood had been plummeting and soaring all night like a roller coaster, immediately felt a knot of fear.

Rather than hoping to share the Romeros‘ fame, he couldn’t shake the thought that Sterling had come to stir up trouble.

He hurried forward with quick steps. “Mr. Romero, welcome, welcome. Our humble home is honored beyond measure.”

Sterling gave him a cool glance but didn’t take his hand. Instead, he gestured toward someone behind Wilson. “Come here.”

The warmth in his tone startled everyone.

Even as the fireworks continued to burst overhead, every gaze followed Sterling’s line of sight.
