Claudia smiled instantly and said, “I love it.”

He smiled too, without denying anything.

She thought he had been late because he was busy avenging her–making sure Lydia and Jasper were caught on live stream, or letting Zane, Lydia, and Quade embarrass themselves upstairs.

The truth was, these few weren’t worth him going to great lengths. Just sending someone stir things up quietly and tweak their plans slightly was enough to let them reap what they’d sown.

What had really taken his time was preparing her birthday gift.

Sterling seemed entirely unconcerned that they were surrounded by watching eyes. After checking her wrist, he casually pressed a hand to her soft belly.
