Sterling suddenly let out a laugh. His voice was low and chilling like a devil’s whisper, making Wilson’s skin crawl.
“Since it’s just a misunderstanding,” he said, “then let’s invite Mrs. Lancaster and the others out. That way, the birthday celebration can continue.”
Claudia’s birthday—and even her parents–had been stolen from her, and the whole family had dismissed her pain. Sterling vowed to let them see her stand tall in the spotlight, shining on her
own.
He wanted them to know that their existence was nothing more than dust to her.
Clarence pressed his lips tightly together.
He didn’t need to see it to know that Zane and Lydia were in no state to meet anyone right now.
“Mr. Romero, my mother and the others are busy-”
Sterling tilted his head, pretending not to understand. “It’s not convenient for you to bring them here?”
Then he smiled again. “It’s fine. I’ll send someone for that.”
“Clint.”

Out of nowhere, Clint appeared with several bodyguards in black suits, answering cheerfully, “Yes, Mr. Romero. We’ll bring them right down.”
Wilson and Clarence couldn’t stop them.
They could only watch helplessly as the men walked away.
“Claudia!” Wilson barked, furious.
Doesn’t she get that you shouldn’t expose family secrets in public?
Claudia lifted her head in confusion, then quickly dropped her gaze as if frightened. In a soft voice, she murmured, “Dad, I just wanted Mom to spend one birthday with me. Is it too much to ask for her to say happy birthday?”
As she lowered her head, all that could be seen was her fair profile and the graceful line of her neck. In her soft white dress, she looked fragile and almost breakable.
Even the most vicious beauty wins pity when she’s sad.

Many in the crowd sneaked resentful glances at Wilson.
What kind of father is this?
It was his daughter’s birthday, and he couldn’t even gather the family. He even scolded her? It’s too much.
Sterling’s eyes lingered on the little “pitiful kitten.” His fingers twitched faintly at his side.
Only he could see the glimmer of cunning and mischief hidden in her eyes.
Upstairs, servants had already rushed Quade to the hospital. Zane, shaking off the drug’s effects, stormed around the room, cursing, while Lydia, still in her torn, filthy clothes, leaned on a worried Lottie and cried.
She had no idea how everything had spiraled out of control.
A gnawing sense of dread grew inside her.
At that moment, the door suddenly slammed open with a violent kick.
Clint appeared at the door with his team of intimidating bodyguards, grinning as if to say, “Found you.”
“Mrs. Lancaster …

“Who are you guys?” Lottie shot up, instantly shielding Lydia, her voice sharp and full of alarm.
How had such a group of strangers barged into our home?
Out of the public eye, Clint shed his polite mask.
Hearing her question, he smiled meaningfully and said, “Chill, Mrs. Lancaster. There’s a birthday party downstairs, and Mr. Romero is inviting everyone to join him.”
Lottie frowned. “The party isn’t over yet?”
