She Died With My Name on Her Lips novel Chapter 15

The driver up front hesitated, his face showing a flicker of sympathy as he glanced back at Stephen.

“Mr. Barker, Ms. Sharp’s really having a rough time. You two… I mean, after everything, maybe you could help her out this once?”

Stephen finally turned those deep, unreadable eyes on Louise.

He let out a cold, almost mocking laugh. “If you feel so sorry for her, John, why don’t you help her yourself?”

John shook his head awkwardly. “I’ve got a wife and kids, and barely any savings. It just isn’t possible for me.”

“So it’s not possible for you, but I’m supposed to play the sucker?” Stephen shot back, his tone sharp and unforgiving.

The driver froze, not sure what to say.

Louise went even paler. Paul looked stunned too, dread creeping into his eyes.

Panicked, they lost their grip and slapped Louise a few more times, desperate and clumsy.

Her cheek was red and swollen, and she looked so weak she might pass out at any second.

“Enough,” Stephen said coldly.

For a second, hope sparked in Louise and Paul’s eyes, but Stephen’s next words snuffed it out completely.

“Louise, how much longer are you going to keep this act going? Did you think I didn’t dig into your past before I ever asked you to stand in for Louisa?”

“As far as I know, your family’s never treated you that badly. Wasn’t the last bank card I gave you enough? Just how greedy are you planning to get?”

He paused, his voice turning icy.

“Actually, I should’ve settled the score sooner. You crashed into Louisa’s car, killed the dog she and I raised, and even fed her ashes to a dog. Since you’ve come to me yourself, let’s deal with it all now, one by one.”

He didn’t look at her again.

“Take them all away,” Stephen ordered.

He made a quick call, and the security team waiting nearby appeared instantly.
