Celine arrived at school half an hour early.
Throughout the morning’s four classes, her mood was unmistakably downcast. As soon as the bell rang for break, Elena hurried over, concern written all over her face.
“What’s wrong, Celine? Who got you upset?”
Celine pouted, looking aggrieved. “No one… Don’t start guessing things.”
But her hesitant, almost tearful expression only made Elena more suspicious. There weren’t many people who could hurt Celine—really, only one came to mind: the Sutton family’s golden girl.
Elena blurted it out without hesitation. “Did Sabrina mess with you again? She’s so awful! Wasn’t last time’s punishment enough? Now she’s picking on you at home, too?”
Celine’s eyes reddened instantly, though she insisted, “It’s not about her. Please, Elena, just drop it.”
But to Elena, this only confirmed her suspicions: Sabrina had definitely bullied Celine.
Walking alongside them, Uliana Linden stayed silent. In the past, she would’ve joined right in, cursing Sabrina alongside Elena—no holds barred.
But ever since that incident, Uliana had started to see Celine differently. Celine wasn’t as innocent as she’d once believed. Now, Celine didn’t even have to do anything—just look a little hurt, shed a few tears, and everyone would leap to defend her, ready to fight her battles.
Elena didn’t even know for sure who’d upset Celine. She just assumed it was Sabrina, no questions asked.
Once, Uliana had been the same. When had Sabrina become their enemy, anyway? It seemed to have started the moment Sabrina returned to the Sutton family—even before they’d met her, they’d already decided she was the villain.
Why? Because of Celine’s wounded looks and tears.
Uliana felt foolish, realizing how easily she’d been manipulated.
She was about to walk away from the two of them when she noticed Marshall approaching.
“Celine, what happened to your eyes?” Marshall asked gently.
