*It was the weekend. Mom had been sick for three days, stubbornly refusing to see a doctor just to save money. God, please, keep my family safe and healthy.*
*Today I earned thirty thousand. Wow. I’m so happy—I really believe I’ll pay off my debts soon. Dad, if you’re watching from above, I hope you can finally rest in peace. Am I really that useless?*
*Today, a customer offered me two hundred thousand—for my first night. Honestly, I was tempted. Maybe I could become her lover, make even more money.
But… I couldn’t bring myself to take that kind of money. The thought of it makes me feel filthy inside.
Maybe, one day, when I can’t hold on any longer, I’ll choose a path I despise, become the kind of woman I never wanted to be...*
“What do you need me to do?” Uliana’s voice snapped Sabrina out of her thoughts.
“I’m not sure yet. But from now on, stay out of anything that involves me.”
Uliana instantly understood what Sabrina meant.
She wants me to spy for her?
“Are you really asking me to betray her?” Uliana asked warily.
Sabrina scoffed. “You think loyalty matters when everything between you two is built on self-interest? I’d call it refusing to get your hands dirty, not betrayal. Don’t you agree?”
Sabrina placed her fingers on the piano keys and began to play, her hands moving fluidly over the ivory. The gentle music filled the room, soothing and sweet.
Uliana was stunned. She didn’t know Sabrina could play. If she hadn’t witnessed it herself, she wouldn’t have believed it.
The music floated through the air, drifting beyond the walls and down the hallway.
Drawn by the melody, Uliana spread her arms gracefully and spun, letting her body move with the rhythm, each step perfectly in sync with the notes.
A classroom.
A piano.
One girl playing, the other dancing.
It was a beautiful scene.
