She’s Back, and Hell’s Coming with Her novel Chapter 25

Across the table, Leonard had already turned pale as a ghost.

He slumped back in his chair, completely drained.

In all of Port City, he’d always considered himself one of the best gamblers around.

Yet even with a sure-win hand, Bryce had managed to snatch victory away from him at the last moment.

Leonard’s third card was the four of spades, giving him just a pair of kings—no match for Bryce.

Bryce casually swept his hair back and stood, buttoning his suit jacket with deliberate composure.

He cast a sympathetic glance at the dumbstruck Leonard and sighed.

“What a shame. Looks like I can’t agree to Mr. Yarrow’s request after all. But thanks for the three hundred million dollars.”

Without giving Leonard’s ashen face a second thought, Bryce strode off the stage, never glancing back.

“First round, congratulations to Mr. York on his resounding victory!” Celia called out, her voice ringing through the hall as Bryce left the table.

It was only then that the stunned guests seemed to snap out of their shock.

One by one, they raised their hands in thunderous applause for the show they’d just witnessed.

Bryce had claimed the first round with a flawless win.

Given his skills, beating Leonard was hardly a challenge.

In her previous life, Sabrina had once played against Bryce herself.

He’d used the exact same trick back then, but that time, he’d failed to beat her.

She’d come here tonight to see that man. No matter how anxious she felt, she had no choice but to wait.

Twenty-eight contestants remained.

Thankfully, each round was short, so things moved along quickly.

As Sabrina pondered, the host Celia announced the start of round two.

On the big screen, a flurry of numbers scrolled rapidly.

After Celia counted down from three, the numbers came to a halt.

“Congratulations to our number six guest—Mr. Mason—for being selected for the second round.”

A spotlight zeroed in on the section marked with the number six.

There, a middle-aged man rose from his seat, his movements steady and unhurried.

Mason was an expatriate, rumored to be in the antiques business.

“Mason, hello. Please choose your opponent from the remaining twenty-six numbers,” Xander said, glancing up at the codes displayed on the big screen.

Mason barely needed a second look before announcing his choice.

“Number eleven.”

Quill seemed unsurprised. For someone who loved antiques, collecting masterpieces was only natural.

“And what are you putting up as your stake?” he asked.

“One billion dollars,” Mason replied.

The room erupted.

If Mason won, he’d take home the ‘Chronicles of Peaks & Rivers.’

If he lost, he’d owe Quill a billion dollars.

Ridiculous wealth.

Quill raised the ante. “My stake is also a billion, but I want twenty percent of your overseas company’s shares.”

Mason hesitated for a split second.

Twenty percent—what a bold demand.

Most of his companies dealt in antiques, worth fortunes in their own right.

But he was confident he’d win tonight.

Quill’s request didn’t faze him for long.

“It’s a deal.”
