Octavia spoke with calm precision, her voice steady and clear as she continued.
“She said she’d hired someone to kidnap you. Then she claimed she’d gouged out your eyes and ears, and sent me photos as proof.”
“I panicked. There was a mole on the ear in the photo—just like yours. I believed her. In my desperation, I signed the transfer papers for the company shares. She even threatened to wipe out the entire Sutton family. Wallace, you have to be careful. Watch your back around her.”
Octavia recounted every sordid detail of what Hester had said, leaving nothing out as she told Wallace everything once more.
Her fists were clenched tight, eyes burning with hatred for Hester.
Wallace listened in stunned silence.
It took him a long moment to process what he’d just heard.
He couldn’t believe that Hester had become someone capable of this.
If anyone else had told him such a story, he’d have dismissed it outright.
But these words came from his own mother—the woman who’d raised him, and who had been a grandmother to Hester.
He had no choice but to believe it.
No choice but to accept the truth.
It was almost too outrageous to be real.
And yet, against all reason, he knew it was true.
The affection he’d felt for Hester twisted into bitter resentment.
He couldn’t understand it. Even if Hester resented the Sutton family shares being passed to Sabrina, how could she go so far as to threaten their lives?
Especially her own grandmother—the woman who’d raised her.
And Hester had even killed Ariel.
God.
Wallace struggled to accept it.
Ariel had been such a sweet girl, and yet she’d been destroyed so cruelly.
When Ariel first disappeared, her grandfather had come to Wallace for help. He’d searched for her himself.
Hester had pretended to be concerned, asking about Ariel’s whereabouts every day.
She’d played her part to perfection.
She’d fooled them all.
The two on the call were silent for a long time.
Finally, Wallace spoke.
“We should go to the police. She needs to pay for what she’s done. Let her rot in prison for the rest of her life.”
