She’s Back, and Hell’s Coming with Her novel Chapter 83

Seeing Desmond’s expression soften, Sabrina pressed her advantage.

“You’re the head of the Sutton Group, Dad. If you let them treat you like this, what’s to stop the underlings from walking all over you next?”

Desmond, already simmering with anger, felt much of his frustration ebb away at Sabrina’s words.

She was right.

Sabrina was his daughter. Anyone who bullied her was showing blatant disrespect for him—and for the Sutton family name. None of those people even came close to matching the Suttons in influence or status.

Sabrina was his child; she represented the Sutton family’s reputation. There was no reason for her to swallow such an insult. Besides, those kids started it; she’d only defended herself.

Satisfied with his reasoning, Desmond saw no need to admit he’d been unfairly harsh with Sabrina a moment ago. As her father, it was his right to lecture her if he saw fit.

See? This is who he really is—hypocritical and selfish.

Sabrina’s heart went cold.

Just then, Sommer breezed in from her coffee date with a friend, looking pleased with herself.

Desmond’s irritation flared all over again the moment he saw her. He snapped, “Where have you been? Your daughter was bullied at school, and you’re nowhere to be found.”

Sommer’s heart skipped a beat as she took in the sight of her husband’s anger and Sabrina’s calm expression. She forced a smile and hurried to explain, “Honey, I just heard and came straight home.”

She glanced at Sabrina. “What did she do this time to get you so upset?”

Sabrina stared coldly at Sommer. Not a single word of concern for whether she’d been hurt or mistreated—just an immediate assumption that it was her fault.

If it were Celine, she would never have asked that.

Desmond’s anger surged at the mention of the incident. “What did she do? You call yourself her mother, and you don’t even know when your daughter’s in trouble. You should be ashamed, asking me instead.”

Sommer was completely thrown. This wasn’t the version she’d heard—supposedly, Sabrina had hit someone and even ended up at the police station.

Sommer hid her confusion behind a placating smile. “I understand, darling. Don’t be upset. I’ll ask Martha to make you some ginseng broth.”
